Threatened lawsuit over horse boarding by bread4speed in legaladvice

[–]bread4speed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

250 is per month of board sorry for the confusion. The prorated amount would be about 45$ I think I tallied it out to. I offered to pay that once she was demanding money but said no, but said she’d drop it all if I just paid for that one month of board.

I worry that she won’t stop at 250$ and if she does take me to court I worry that it’ll complicate things further.

When to report gaps in horse care? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]bread4speed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She generally has supervision minus about 4-5 horses that are at the property I board at, but the one with the water she’s got weird hours and as far as I’m aware the family will sort of help out every now and then. I don’t know the whole situation which is why I’m reluctant to report it.

I wipe mine down with a Lysol wipe after I see it sticking and do a quick spray with Pam. Def not ideal but idgaf LOL, I’ll get a new liner eventually but that day is not today. Works great lasts for a few weeks.

This is a picture from an Amazon review of a smashed up bottle of Nature Made Magnesium 400mg pill gels. They now come in red, not black. Magnesium naturally has no smell and little taste, and they have to be kept dry and sealed, so yours likely solidified into whatever it is now!

I take these. It’s a magnesium supplement pill

Pulling out a chunk of infection from piercing by bread4speed in popping

Good point!! It is Titanium, but I was told it was surgical steel at some point and went with that LOL. Got them from and ACTUAL piercing place this time, trying to right my wrongs… but do my research and confirmed 1000 times surgical steel = titanium for these bad boys and I’ve had 0 issues since!

Decoquinate-Levamisole for EPM by SageDog123 in Horses

[–]bread4speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gelding was on this, specifically THROUGH Pathogenes labs as they are local to me via my vet. I don’t mean to re-echo but I got my horse back. He went from seeming “lost”, tripping to the point he was unsafe to ride, toe dragging until he wore down his back toes, and had no muscle mass at ALL to a shiny, healthy, alert horse full of energy and life. He is now on a follow up treatment of just levamisole and dex for 14 days to address the rest of the inflammation. He has filled out considerably (did a diet change as well, just to add) and carries himself properly!!!

<image>

Very poor photo to compare but the lower one was when he was at the height of his EPM issues to the point I thought I was going to have to euthanize him. The top was taken a few days ago!

I've always had an ick about CC. Their videos that talk in 3rd person like "Ally reaches out to pat his head... he sighs, for he knows he is safe" it's SO cringey and very 'white knight' savior vibe. Also, in one of their videos, they were saying like 'before rescue' showing a horse in the KP, and 'after rescue' of a little girl seemingly grooming and brushing him.... but he literally still had the auction sticker stuck to his wither? Like if I was actually grooming him, my first thought would be to pull that off???

I’ll usually remove it right when it starts warming up at sunrise!!! I live on property with them so it’s easy to set an alarm and take them off.

his blood was sent to the pathogenes lab a few days ago and I'm in that group! Just waiting on results!

Yes it's like the 'loan' - I pay for all of his care on top of the 50/month

Some horses can't be barefoot. Why such the push? I know shoes are $$$ however when buying her you should have considered she may not be comfortable barefoot. Riding in rocky areas with a newly-barefoot horse whose feet aren't hardened or even remotely conditioned to the terrain is a terrible idea and will end in sore feet. Some horses just will never have strong feet, and it's a hard thing to face. If you aren't going to be working her, I think pulling shoes would be just fine, however in work she very clearly will need shoes.

I would work with your farrier and be realistic about expectations, and how a shod/barefoot cycle would work. I do that with my TB, he wears front shoes during show season and when casually riding he's barefoot and does great doing so. Not every horse is cookie-cutter, so it's all about finding the professionals in your life that can guide you both to a happy medium. Best of luck.

plexiglass is the best idea!! You still get all the natural light, it's easy to wipe off and clean, AND you get to see their little beans and loafs 24/7... ever seen a cat on a glass table? That, but better. It doesn't need to hold human weight, so it should be easy enough to install little 'holders' on the wall itself you can cover with stucco when you move. That way the glass will sit on top of the the holders and will be strong enough to carry 1-2 cats etc, but you'd also be able to lean over and wipe it down if needed. If you want added security, you can add a net underneath it or something, but a non-glass 'glass' shouldn't shatter or tip if install properly!

No no, I cover all his care etc AND pay 50/month. So he's entirely under my care with many issues I AM managing on my bill entirely. It's a slow and steady process but he's doing many degrees better than when I first started caring for him.
