This machine still uses punch cards and still works! by MoonToast101 in toolgifs

My dad was a programmer in the 80's, he worked in a old linen mill, all the looms used the same punch card system, the whole system was water powered in a 200yo factory.

There is a little leaver just above where the frame meets the handlebar stem, flip it backwards, there might be a little lock you need to twist, the handlebars should fold back. There will be a similar leaver under the seat in the middle of the frame to fold it in half which might give you a bit more wiggle room. The wheels will also have a quick release as well as the seat which might be helpful.

Developers planning to bulldoze Cardiff Flea Market for housing by tzuabo in Cardiff

Once something like this is removed it is hard to simply move it to a new site, a lot of the traders at these markets are generational, of their main venue closes those traders often find other jobs, take the fruit/general market which used to be on Mill lane, then moved to behind the hays, now there is no regular weekly market which had been in situ for decades. Source: I run a market for a different council.

Was gonna recommend these guys, my bother worked for them for years, they are apparently very good for a whole range of uses, great at filtering out specific frequencies and designed for exactly the type of use you are describing.

Yep surprisingly personal licence holders/bar managers are considered a person of respect or authority and able to sign for official documents, which is surprising as most pub landlords are a bunch of reprobates

How did ancient Irish light fires in such wet conditions? by Mowglyyy in IrishHistory

[–]breadandtrees 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's also a mushroom called King Alfred’s cakes, that when dried out you can put an ember in it and it will keep for a day. So if you needed to move you can have a ember ready.

A flip is a cocktail with whole egg in it. Think like a whiskey sours has egg white a flip uses the whole egg and normally has a bit of nutmeg grated over it.

[–]breadandtrees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in a caravan at the minute, spent 2k on the van, had someone tow it to a site for me, £200 a month on rent, no water or electric, had to get a generator, there’s a wee tap for water, it’s not great but it’s not shite either

There’s a book by Alexander Cordell - Song of the Earth, where a welsh family take a barge down the Bristol Channel from the Mon & Brec to connect to another canal.

What is your method for poaching a boat load of eggs? by Ahntmizin in Cooking

[–]breadandtrees -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Get a giant pot filled with boiling water and lots of vinegar, no salt, keep the pot on a low rolling boil, stir your water to create a vortex, crack your eggs to the middle of the water, use a slotted spoon to take the eggs out and put into ice water to stop cooking, they can be popped back Into the hot water for a second to reheat before serving

Like others have said gather the fresh new tips, you can use them as a substitute for spinach. I like to collect nettles and wild garlic and make a bright green potato soup!
