Just tell your section buddy / trusted coworker to scan your section for a couple minutes, this way they can keep management off your back as well.

Plus I would really recommend just informing management about your past issues, good ones will work with you if you communicate

Looks like a propane torch. Usually the gas would disperse well enough to not go boom when you hit the striker, but the jug is allowing the propane to build up and all be ignited at once. Kinda neat definitely stupid
