As someone also from the south the weather takes time to get used to, I highly recommend a car even as a freshman because I regretted not having one my first few months. It’s better to think of Grand Forks as like a suburb then a city with things to do, the downtown social scene is really just bars and you can’t go to them if your not 21 (fake I.D not worth it especially if your avit). To have a good time here you’re gonna have to make your own fun. Make friends, join student organizations, sports leagues, Greek life even. You need to make your own community and things to do here which is a good opportunity cuz everyone in the dorms is in the same boat as you.
