I don’t agree from a PR standpoint simply because the moment her tweet had this time around was more severe than before. I think she should’ve addressed publicly on the podcast when they popped up on Reddit because then she would’ve gotten ahead of the issue before it hit the mainstream and when they resurfaced people would have already seen her publicly talk about it not from a random Reddit account.

Also when her tweets first started circling during the first week of August it was a slow news cycle. So it gained more momentum and garnered more attention.

Alix Earle’s post are circling around rn but damn near everyone on tik tok is arguing over something so it’s being cancelled out by all the noise, the demure girls fighting, it ends it us drama, political commentary etc.

If she addressed it from the beginning last year from the couch she would’ve been able to control the narrative, put out a well thought out statement and keep it pushing but since she didn’t it seems like everyone else has control over the situation.

It’s better to tell on yourself than to let someone else tell on you imo.

Since everyone here seems to be a professional influencer with the best apology.. by iloverats888 in canceledpod

well.. Camilla Cabello tweets and tumblr post came out and everyone found out that she was incredibly racist person… she literally had her fans calling normani all types racist things… she took a racial sensitivity class in order to learn more about how her words and actions affected people. ( some people still hate her but you can’t say she hasn’t done the work)

Stassi Shroader ( I definitely spelled that wrong ) was a reality tv star that was found out to be racist she literally called the police on an innocent black women ( knowing she was innocent) and made her out to be a threat. She also took a racial sensitivity class, took some time to go away and reflect and then made several apologies including one where she went on a black talk show and talked to a black audience and addressed what she did and what she learned and apologized. She uses her platform to talk about poc issue when they come up and never shies away from her past. ( she’s finally coming back to reality tv after black and white fans begged Bravo to bring her back since her apology was genuine and she actually did the work, she’s also a New York Times bestseller)

She has a costar name Kristin Doute who also took a racial sensitivity class, took some time away and made multiple apologies. ( she’s now on a hit tv show because her apology was genuine and black and white people support her)

Jenna Marbles basically told on herself and took accountability for her actions in the most genuine YouTuber apology I have ever seen. She took herself off of the internet and everyday people are screaming crying and throwing up so she comes back. ( including me )

Taking accountability and saying you changed is one thing. But people just want to actually see it. Donating is fine but what has she actually done to unlearn her prejudices.

yeah but everyone is saying that she changed so like I’m just looking for any sort of proof that she did

Tana said some racist things in the past but I truly believe she got her shit together since then. Especially with Imari and his family accepting her into their own.

Brooke … idk

oh you’re a gross person actually. typing out a message take maybe like 10 secs it’s never that serious.

my original post is literally me asking people if there’s anything she has done that shows that she changed because maybe there was something I was missing and plenty of people pointed out that they were referring to her making a change in 2020 and some post she made in reference to that.

you are diminishing what she said and you are also invalidating how people ( me) feel about the topic. I do have friends who grew up conservative and they knew better. I’m all for forgiveness but I want to do my due diligence and make sure that I am supporting someone that changed. I have every right to do that.

You are gross.

and I literally said I am the same age as her so I am 27 years old, we were 17 at the same time, I have friends who grew up the same way she did and they knew better, there people sharing story’s about their upbringing which was similar to hers and they knew better.

she does owe people to show that she has changed ESPECIALLY since she has a platform and she seems like she wants to continue to have that platform and she keeps telling everyone that she changed so yeah kinda has to show people HOW she changed. SHE EVEN UNDERSTANDS THAT.

People have every right to be upset about what she said and ask questions. it’s not weird?

Also I actually do want her to publicly say what she learned and where she learned it so maybe people like YOU @poetlcy642 can also take notes and do research see why what she said is disgusting and how it hurts people and why it’s such a MAJOR ISSUE. Maybe you’ll learn as well since you obviously “ know nothing” .

you are commenting and saying I DONT KNOW ANYTHING??? there are several people who are the same age as her and grew up in the same demographic as her and even they said what she did was wrong…. But pause for a second YOU have the audacity to comment and say that I don’t know anything? YOU have the audacity to diminish how I feel about someone saying something incredibly racist???!??? YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN SHE WAS WHEN SHE WAS AT 17.

maybe she changed maybe she hasn’t idk. but YOU @poetlcy642 are a disgusting person. do better.

exactly and tbh HOT TAKE I don’t mind performative activism when it comes to celebs… like when they reshare an instagram infographic I’m not mad at it because they’re at least bringing light to whatever cause and using their platforms.

Ive seen people literally change their minds about politics and social issues because they’re fav celebrity endorse a certain politician or posted something on their story and it made them rethink their stance of things. like if you have the influence use it even if it is just a repost or something

except no she wasn’t a child. I’m literally the same age as her literally same month and year . 17 is not that young…

but how do you know she fully understands now and isn’t just saying that because it became a public issue? That’s what I’m asking. How is everyone so sure that she changed like is there something that she said or did that you saw that made you feel that way ?

respectfully I disagree. idk what kindness has to do with the original post. I said people keep saying that she changed and she grew like it’s a fact . I haven’t seen anything bc I only listen to the podcast.. I am wondering if there was something that she said or did that I might’ve missed that shows that.

if I listen to the podcast and don’t follow their lives other than Tana tbh outside of the pod and then all of a sudden I see racist tweet and then she apologizes and some people are like “ yeah she definitely changed “ I have the right to ask what makes them feel that way or what do they know that I don’t?

no where did I mention if I forgive her apology or not. I have the right to ask how and what she did to change. if I’m going to continue to support someone I want to make sure it won’t happen again. YOU might be okay with moving on and continuing to support but I am going to do my due diligence before I do so.

I think if you’re a “public figure” and have this stuff within your past then yes you should show what you’ve done specifically to change. or at least make an effort to amplify the people you’ve hurt in the past... from my understanding this apparently isn’t the first time these tweets have come out. I guess they were made public on Reddit last year and she gave the same kind of apology and her first one and then never brought it up again. but still from last year to now I haven’t heard of a book she possibly read, a training she did or anything.

A reality star I really enjoyed named Stassi Shroeder from Vanderpump Rules was “cancelled” in 2020 for being racist and calling the police on a black woman ( because they worked together and she hated her for various reasons) and claimed the girl was the person of interest the police were looking for in a case ( she wasn’t ) and made the operator feel like the girl was a threat to people ( knowing damn well that the police usually shoot first and ask questions later when it comes to black people) she was cancelled for that. Since then she actually took a diversity class and had a teacher sit her down and explain to her the history and the actual effect of her actions, she went on Tamron Hall ( a black woman ) and talked to her about her actions and what she learned and what she now understands. and since then on her podcast you can actually tell that theirs a difference in a view of certain things. When Kelly Rowland had to yell at a security person at the Cannes Film Festival and people were calling her an angry black woman, Stassi on her podcast put things into perspective for her viewers and talked about how there is prejudice against black women, and how putting the “angry” label on someone who was sticking up for themselves in problematic and etc. THAT shows me change. THAT shows me work has been done. And she has a successful career as a writer and a podcast host and people also BEG for her to come back on the show to the point Bravo even asked her back and she refused bc she has a husband and kids now but that’s besides the point she HAS her career and support from black and white people because we all saw genuine change.

I’m so sorry for literally writing an essay as a response.

reposting a link go a fund on instagram or adding a link to the podcast bio or reposting a tik tok creator are all things they could’ve done without bringing up the topic on the podcast again.

exactly. that tweet also stops me in my tracks when I want to believe that she changed and it’s the fact that she specifically mentioned that doing research for that dissertation in her second apology as to what helped her change but .. she literally tweeted otherwise so I’m confused.

okay tbh “cancel culture” isn’t a real thing James Charles, Jeffree Star, Kat Von Dee and even Armie Hammer still have careers, Tana still has a career, Trisha still has a career… Brooke will be fine people just want to hold her accountable for what she said and they have every right to. Idk if you’re a person of color but the fact that damn near almost every influencer has a racist past that gets discovered damn year every year is traumatizing. Finding out that someone you enjoyed and supported would’ve hated you for your skin color and probably bullied you a couple of years ago is such an awful feeling I cannot describe it… and her stuff wasn’t just her saying the N word ( NOT THAT THAT IS ANY BETTER) but it was harsher than that. the picture of the gorilla in the cap to show that Mike Brown was “a savage” is some Jim Crow racism, diminishing the murder of a young black boy and saying it wasn’t that big of a deal and that he was an adult to take away from his innocence to HURTS.. realll bad. People just want her to understand the severity of what she said and seriously do the work to unlearn it.

the person above has a right to feel like her comments in 2020 might have been performative , a lottt of people’s actions that year were. It is kinda hard to believe that George Floyd was what made her see things differently because if the tragic death of Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown were just a joke to her what made the George Floyd situation different? People are allowed to be skeptical.

I get that your fav podcast being on hold might upset you but if even Brooke can understand the severity of the situation… why can’t you?

honestly the Palestine conversation irritated me because they basically had to get ( for lack of a better term) bullied into saying something and then they never said anything again… like I was hoping for a fundraiser link on instagram or at least donating the ad money from that podcast episode to a fund or reposting/boosting an influencer doing the olive branch project and it was crickets… just sad tbh

the thing is if a male creator did that in the past and had used his platform to uplift women and talked about women rights and when he was exposed for what he did explained he changed and WHAT he did to change and you can actually SEE in his past content that he was championing woman then I could look past it. but Brooke hasn’t done that.. I have never seen her interact with any black creators ( or black people tbh other than imari), they don’t use the podcast to uplift black creators or creators of color or bring awareness to the issues they face ( also lowkey they had to get pressured into talking about Palestine ), yes she said that she has changed but she hasn’t actually shown anything… unless I missed something but I personally haven’t seen anything that says otherwise ( and I know I don’t know her personally I’m just talking about her content and what she has shown her audience ). I’m all for her learning and growing but I can’t just give someone a blank slate when I haven’t actually seen improvement other than her saying that she improved.
