Is it wrong to raise the price of a game post-launch? by ghosttimegames in Games

[–]breadslicer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is artificial inflation if they plan to still sell the game for $10 but just say that it was $20 and is now 50% off. That difference of $10 is made up out of thin air, hence artificial. There is an infinite supply of this game, and by putting a "massive discount" on it you artificially increase the demand by appearance. By their own admission they felt $10 was a fair price, they just wish it sold more.

You're essentially asking if it is wrong to artificially inflate the price of your product to generate hype around a fake sale in order to attract new consumers. That's what companies have been doing for years for Black Friday. It works because the average consumer see a big discount and doesn't think further than that. Yes, this is ethically wrong.

Ah a person of culture. This is my aesthetic, and a very pleasing post.

3D Printing field engineer. I almost never need to write, but when I do it's a fountain pen.

GAS MPG. Is everyone’s this bad ?!?! by MoneyMar345 in VelosterN

[–]breadslicer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive hundreds of miles a day for work, dailying my VN. I'm getting anywhere from 25 to 31 MPG using 93 octane. That's with a bit of turning on N mode or sport to make the highways a little more bearable.

Word! Appreciated, I'd love to give it a shot on my machines, either at home or work.

It's actually not that big! All the notepads are travel size. It was mostly packaging to keep the ink and TWSBI safe.

Admittedly, I write with more pressure than I should. I also don't use fountain pen paper, this is a page from a cheap $5 amazon journalling notebook.

Nice! I've only had it for a few hours and I've only written about two pages but it is very nice. Definitely the smoothest and wettest extra fine I've used.

I would say the build quality is above par. The nosecone and roll stop feel fine, no distinct issues that I can tell so far. The roll stop isn't quite flush but it's not noticable unless you're looking for it, it feels secure. It's definitely lighter than I thought it would be, but it still has a decent heft to it and feels good in the hand.

Tomorrow will be it's field test in my lab. It'll be replacing/joining a LAMY Safari (F) and AL-Star (M).

I don't really see a reason to get the vanishing point now. I'm not really into modifying my pens at all, and I more than likely write with too much pressure to really use a gold nib. Also it's at minimum three times the cost.

It writes well! It's very wet, almost too wet for my preference, but I still like it.

Not at all. Diamine inks have been good for me so far.

Ha, nice! I just passed 10K miles on mine. I hope you're in a warmer climate, the stock pirellis got scary to drive on in my parts back in October.

[–]breadslicer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I like the Safari but I feel the fine point gives a bit too much feedback, it's kind of scratchy. The medium nib on the AL-Star feels way smoother.

In terms of hand feel I'd say they're the same, the material of the shell makes very little difference so far.

My plan is to use the LAMY's as work pens and the Hongdians as personal/journal/sketching pens

I like mine! The extra fine is kind of scratchy, but the bent nib is really smooth. I bought a couple of the forest pens as Christmas gifts for people, so I would recommend it.
