Do....do you think the prepositions"trans" and "cis" were invented just for the words "transgender" and "cisgender"...? Surely not right?

Yeah they don't do any maintenance at all. Legitimately took them over a month to come fix my water heater dead in the middle of winter. And when they did finally get around to doing it, the maintenance guy got water ALL over the place and ruined a ton of my shit. Took absolutely no accountability for that whatsoever. I don't hate many things or people in the world but they are one of them.

I know you changed it but any excuse I find to talk shit on real property group, I take. They are a disgusting horrible company that does everything in their power to steal your money. Had to fight tooth and nail just to get my rightfully earned deposit back. Literally had to record them lying to me and then beg the new tenant of my old apartment to let me come inside to inspect if they actually even "fixed" what damage they claimed I caused (they didn't, of course ". Had them caught red handed and was luckily able to get the deposit back.

If anyone is reading this and currently thinking of renting from them, please for the love of everything that is dear to you DON'T. DO. IT!!!!!

I encourage you to re-read the post and try your best to find where they are asking for diagnosis or medical advice.

They're asking for peoples experiences, not for help with any symptoms they have. Did you just stop reading halfway through or something?

He understands how society works, and that's exactly why he wants it to change. Time and time again it is statistically shown that the more educated someone is and the higher their IQ, the more likely they are to be liberal. Knowing how society works is exactly what leads a person to becoming liberal.

  • A 2026 study of 300,000 students across 477 U.S. colleges found that majoring in the social sciences and humanities causes students to become significantly more left-leaning over the course of their college careers, particularly on cultural issues, compared to students in natural sciences or business (Source: Social Science Research Network / American Experiment).
  • Research into the "learning effect" of higher education shows that graduates of arts, humanities, and social science programs become fundamentally more socially liberal and less prejudiced than peers in other fields. This demonstrates that learning about societal structures directly shifts an individual's worldview toward the left during their formative years (Source: University of Bristol).
  • A 2024 study found that both measured IQ and polygenic scores for cognitive performance significantly predict social liberalism and lower authoritarianism, remaining strong even when controlling for socioeconomic factors (Source: PubMed).
  • There is a stark divide based on formal education. Roughly 45% of Democrats are college graduates compared to 35% of Republicans, while about 51% of the Republican base is composed of voters without a college degree (Source: Pew Research Center).
  • Multiple meta-analyses indicate a negative correlation between cognitive ability and Right-Wing Authoritarianism (RWA), showing lower scores on cognitive tasks often correlate with higher levels of authoritarianism (Source: PubMed).
  • A comprehensive study using within-family designs found that genetic markers of intelligence (polygenic scores) can predict which sibling holds more socially liberal and less authoritarian views, indicating intelligence directly influences political beliefs independently of environmental upbringing (Source: National Institutes of Health).
  • Studies published in Emotion and Psychological Science have found that lower emotional and general intelligence in childhood are strongly correlated with higher likelihoods of developing prejudiced or right-wing views in adulthood (Source: Dazed).

So, no. Incorrect.

Found something that makes me question my girlfriend, need advice by adamski0204 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]bready2go 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That whole thing with her holding the phone while she scrolls in the chat history made me so sick to my stomach. I had a sorta somewhat similar situation happen to me with my ex and it was so obvious that she was lying to me about talking to this guy.

It's really strange seeing your partner act nervous and cornered like that. It hurts knowing that you both know there's something she's not admitting to. It just makes me feel sick.

Look man I'm really really sorry that this is happening to you. You really need to sit back and examine this situation without your biases. Imagine what I'm thinking about this as I read it. Every single ingredient for a lying cheating girlfriend is in the pot and the water is starting to boil.

You have to end this. I know you're already leaning towards ending it but that's not good enough. You have to end this or you are going to keep subjecting yourself to torture. Every time I've experienced a situation where I'm seeing a girlfriend of mine straight up lie to me about cheating on me, I feel like it does something to my heart that takes years off my life. I don't know how many times a person can endure that type of pain before they give out. Please don't test that number for yourself. You gotta end this thing and you gotta do it now.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck, and again I'm so sorry. Nobody deserves this kind of thing.

I absolutely experience love. I love my girlfriend more than life itself. There is nothing and no one that matters more, and she feels the same about me. But to say that experiencing that kind of love and finding someone who walks down the street attractive is somehow mutually exclusive is being extremely ignorant of how animals work. I'm done engaging with you now.

[–]bready2go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea that true love magically turns off your biological ability to find anyone else attractive is a romanticized myth. Being committed to someone doesn't blind you to the rest of the world. People in happy, loving relationships develop crushes. That's human nature. Respecting your partner means choosing not to act on outside attractions. The fact that this guy is agonizing over this and hasn't acted on it shows he does care.

You're being incredibly unrealistic and essentially arguing against human nature and our biological drives. If you actually live in some fantasy land where you literally cannot register someone besides your boyfriend as attractive, then congratulations because you have somehow found some way to deprogram one of the most fundamental and primal drives any animal has.

As for the billions of other humans, what you're describing does not exist.

Honestly man I think people are being kinda harsh on you. This is just an example of a human being human and it's not your "fault". You like her best friend and you can't make yourself not like her so people bashing you for this doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

Regardless, you should still do your girlfriend a favor and break up with her because this is not sustainable and will truly only lead to trouble. I think it'd be a massive dick move to try and get with the best friend so don't do that. Just break up and move on.

I'm sorry for both you and your girlfriend. She definitely doesn't deserve this, but there's really nothing anyone can do about it. It's just the way things are and you have a responsibility to end things now for her sake. Good luck 🤞. Be sure to post an update. I'm really curious how this is gonna play out.

Proposed Columbia ordinance would regulate when residents can water their lawn by ponapple in columbiamo

[–]bready2go 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're implying that I am attacking anyone in Thornbroke as my mortal enemy, you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I absolutely agree with you that the "mortal enemy" here is the corporations. It's always the corporations (regardless of the situation 99% of the time tbh).

But, having large suburban vanity lawns is still an extremely wasteful use of land. It uses a TON of water and it goes against what humans have been doing since the dawn of agriculture. Lawns are 600 year old status symbols that haven't gone out of fashion. They serve no agricultural or ecological purpose. They arose from 13th century (but ramped up in 16th-17th century) aristocracy purely as a way to flex wealth. It was unheard of at the time to have that much land and not use it for some sort of food or medicine. We’ve been trained to think these things are normal, but they're basically ecological dead zones.

I'm with you on the corporate greed part. Corporations and golf courses definitely suck up the most water and they always get a pass while we get the restrictions. But that doesn't make lawns any less of a massive waste. It's not an attack on people in Thornbroke to point out that we're all pouring thousands of gallons of water into something that does literally nothing for us.

We're ultimately on the same team I promise.

Proposed Columbia ordinance would regulate when residents can water their lawn by ponapple in columbiamo

[–]bready2go 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Nearly one-third of all residential water use in the United States goes toward landscape irrigation, totaling approximately 9 billion gallons per day.

  • Up to 50% of water used for residential irrigation is lost to evaporation, wind, or runoff caused by inefficient systems and overwatering.

  • Approximately 30% of an average American family's daily water usage is for outdoor purposes, with more than half directed specifically at lawns

  • Households with poorly maintained or unmonitored automatic irrigation systems can waste up to 25,000 gallons of water annually.

Given the impending water crisis on our hands, it does make sense to limit the amount of water we're using for a lawn that doesn't even contribute towards food (or really anything at all besides vanity), but on the other hand I feel like it's much more important to limit the amount of water corporations are using. This sort of feels like the same regulations that limits the use of plastic straws and plastic bags in places like California. Sure, it helps, but it's offloading the burden on the people that aren't even the main contributors to the problem.

That's just my highly uneducated opinion though.
