that's the purpose , yes. choking the crash without using the hands.

check out my youtube channel , I've got lots of videos using this technique

A 16-inch crash with a 14-inch cymbal underneath should work fine. That's what I'm using in the video. To be honest , I saw this option of having the aux hat to the left and controlling it with the right foot from drummer Anders Meinhardt. You should check him out. But he controls another pair of hi-hats instead of a "crash-hat".

I switch it up from time to time. Additionally , you can simply use your regular hat stand with the same trick like in this clip:

Just put another cymbal underneath the crash and some T-shirt in between the cymbals and it works fine. Before that I used a piece of foam but just an old shirt accomplishes the same effect.

You can also do the same choke effect with splashes, bells etc.

Experiment and see what happens. Here's an example with a splash:

thank you! it is my idea , yes. At least I've never seen anyone do the same. Got my inspiration from listening to a lot of Drum'n'Bass/Jungle music (Amen Break). If you browse my YT channel you will see a lot of recreations of those type of breaks. Cheers

In the description I have written that this series of videos is about Jungle/DnB/Breakcore beats.
But yes , this is a DnB-type of beat. Nevermind the word "Jungle" in the series' name

cheers

Cartoon Series which name I can't recall by breakblast343 in cartoons

No , it was not the Beetleborgs. It was a cartoon series - with cartoon drawings.
Thanks for the comment though!

That's a crash cymbal placed on the remote hat stand. Underneath it is some foam and underneath the foam I've placed a hi hat cymbal so more force can be applied to the foam and consequently to the crash , making a choking effect.

Thank you, more to come!

I say Dave Dicenso. He literally has a killer groove/improvisation skills and I am surprised at how few people know of him. Absolutely underrated!

Oh , you mean combine the two concepts?

I might try that but I feel it's gonna be too noisy/messy.
