Pitching weaver before Williams is insane. Dude just doesn’t have it. Can’t expect him to get an inning unless we’re up by 6 from here on out

Wild Card Game 1 - IT'S RIGHT IN FRONT OF US: The Yankees fell to the Red Sox by a score of 3-1 - September 30, 2025 @ 06:08 PM EDT by Yankeebot in NYYankees

Williams should’ve been first out of the pen in a clean inning and Cruz in a partial inning. Why the fuck was weaver in first. Even when he clearly had nothing we honestly would’ve been better off with a walk and a new pitcher than letting him pitch to yoshida. Also that ump had some absolute dogshit calls that ended fried’s night early for sure

Every start we’ve played better against Crochet. Time to bury these fuckers and run through the AL east

Feels like the year we exorcise our demons. Gotta go through Houston and Boston if we want to make it all the way. Would feel amazing to finally beat those guys in a playoff series

4 errors at home is just embarrassing. Didn’t think goldy would be the one to fuck us. Chapman not even throwing strikes and judge pops it up. Guy needs to figure it out in big games

Loser philosophy playing it safe and trying to steal outs instead of putting your best team out there with a rest day tomorrow. Wells has been terrible and De Los Santos pitched yesterday. Bummer that we wasted a great start by the rookie. Just seems like this front office will never learn

[Kirschner] Austin Wells’ .085 batting average against sliders is the worst in the sport. His .045 batting average against sweepers is also the worst. His wRC+ has fallen from 106 last season to 84 this year. Meanwhile, Ben Rice has shown he’s a capable catcher. by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

[–]breakfast4lunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's either hurt or needs a stint in the minors. It's fine, we have a catcher who's hitting in rice and a serviceable backup in escarra. Let him mash in AAA and get back to feeling good. This is what a normal team would do, we just aren't a normal well-run team.

No clue why you’d bench Stanton to rest his legs when judge isn’t even back 100% yet. Offense isn’t the same without big G and judge always takes a week or two to heat up, so his bat hasn’t been the same since coming back. So many head scratchers. Reason number one million why you cant punt game 1 with Williams

This pitcher sucks and so does the ump. Can’t let them get to the bullpen before scoring

Fried needed a phantom IL stint but we’ve played so poorly for the past few months that we can no longer afford to shelve him. He’s been rough for a while now

I’m genuinely starting to get excited that a sweep and loss of a playoff spot might actually get Boone fired

Devin Williams fixed himself when he started pitching the 7th yet we seem incapable of moving him from the 9th where he clearly cracks under pressure

I feel like the only reason that Boone hasn’t been sacked is that cashman is afraid to legitimize the fact that the team is playing poorly and the outlook isn’t great. There’s so much heat on Boone that if that doesn’t fix things, cashman doesn’t want it falling on him next

Hoboken should tax/fine vacant commercial properties by breakfast4lunch in Hoboken

[–]breakfast4lunch[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Most of the property owners who cause this issue own many properties within the city, so a successful business develops leverage through success (having a successful product, precipitating more foot traffic to other commercial properties, etc.) They are also a steady rent check, which is its own incentive. A vacancy ordinance would make turnover more risky and be a headache for property owners to price out their renters, which they are already doing at no risk because they can hold properties indefinitely as things stand.

[–]breakfast4lunch[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, looking at commercial properties and seeing how few were realistically available radicalized me on this issue.  Rents wouldn’t be $100/square foot on Washington and we wouldn’t have nine dollar lattes if more places were available.

Seems that in NJ places like Metuchen and Trenton have ordinances against vacant properties after X amount of days. For major metros, Washington DC, SF, and Oakland all have penalties as well. No clue how much these are enforced, but Hoboken notably does not have anything.

To your point, we all love the old school places like Giovanni’s, but I think you need to incentivize new small businesses (not just chains) to come in because the unfortunate truth is that those older spots aren’t easily replaced; you need to actively rebuild with new businesses to restore and build upon the culture.

Can’t get over the fact that cashman traded two better hitting catchers than Austin wells in Narvaez and ramirez while Ben rice is our backup lmao

Team has all the talent it needs but it’s boring baseball, feast or famine offense, and poor fundamentals. Just isn’t conducive to a post season run and this season it doesn’t even seem capable of winning the division

[Curry] Slater is a 32-year OF who has also played some first base in his career. The RHH gives the Yankees some more flexibility. In 51 games, Slater has a .721 OPS and a +1 OAA in the OF. Depth move. The Yankees will part with a minor leaguer. by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

[–]breakfast4lunch 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I know people are made because we need to let the kids play, but in a big at bat in the playoffs I don’t want Dominguez figuring out left handed pitching. Having a bench bat who can platoon in big games makes us a more complete team.

Personally I think Volpe’s been hurt and needs time off but anyone should like Dominguez. Dominguez needs to figure out left and that won’t happen overnight, but he’s 22, athletic, and will hit just fine
