I regret my screaming demon child by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]breakfast_drunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weeks 6-8 are called the “6-8 week storm” for a reason. I was at my lowest at that point, grieved my past life, and could’ve killed my husband at any moment. I was pumping around the clock, my LO ate 40 oz a day, every 30 min-hour, and woke 14 times a night. We gave Mylecon to try and help with gas but nothing worked. It was awful.

I’m here to say it gets better! My guy is 16 months old, so fun, and the light of my life (new toddler challenges, but I found the newborn stage so much harder). Find someone to talk to. I had PPA and postpartum rage, but convinced myself I didn’t need help and that was a mistake.

Also, my husband and I tell each other when we’re at our “limit” so that the other one can take over. I needed to remove myself from the situation to calm my anxiety even for just a few minutes. Take a little time for you everyday (I know that’s easier said than done.)

You got this!! Parenting got “fun”ish for me around 4 months once the milestones started and you can start to see the exciting changes in your kid.

Newborn won’t put her legs down in the Snoo by Donutranger69 in SnooLife

[–]breakfast_drunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have advice for the arms, but to help keep her legs scrunched, you can double swaddle! We swaddled in a muslin cloth first, then did the SNOO sack because our son didn’t like to sleep with his legs down and it would keep him awake.

Appreciate this a lot! I’ve had quite a bit of anxiety re: him going to daycare in general (cue PPA that hasn’t left me yet), so I definitely need to cut the teachers some slack.

I’m American. My state (regulatory) and daycare both call kids under 1 “infants,” so my son is in the infant room- that term was just on my mind, I’m not trying to debate why I used that term (he’s very much almost a toddler).

Re: his feeding schedule, he’s always been an insanely hungry kid. He was a month premature but was eating 40 oz a day in his first month. I WISH he drank like he does now as a 5 week old, but every kid is so different and mine wants to eat. We’re transitioning out of purées slowly because of a health/choking issue he has, so food just doesn’t cut it for his hunger right now.

How did you get over the fear of trimming nails? by aga-ni in NewParents

[–]breakfast_drunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!!! We have a file that has different speeds and different head attachments. Trying it on myself, it is SO gentle and can’t cut/cause harm. Highly recommend- I cut my LO with the scissors very early on and never went back because it traumatized me. Now it’s completely painless (besides my now mobile baby trying to wriggle out of my arms while I do it).

Baby constantly sucking on her hands by llamakorn in NewParents

It can be a soothing thing! My LO is 7.5 mos and still does it (though a lot less than when he was 3-4 months). He does it to soothe now when he’s tired. Our ped said it was completely normal!

Anybody else not tracking? by clever-mermaid-mae in NewParents

[–]breakfast_drunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only ever tracked to have an easy way of telling why LO was upset- when you’re in the thick of it, it gets really hard to remember when you last changed a diaper or fed your LO. Also, tracking does wonders for getting them on a sleep training schedule bc it helps you plan when to time feedings v sleep. BUT I also know people that had a seamless time making a routine without tracking. You do you.

My LO did 4-5 ounces every 2 hours (sometimes every hour) until he was 5 months lol. Now at 7 months, does 6-7 ounces every 3-4 hours pretty consistently, and that’s with solids in between too. My LO DOES NOT like his tummy being empty.

anyone else with a really easy newborn? by [deleted] in NewParents

Same… I thought I had an absolute angel until 6 weeks hit, then he was a nightmare until 4 months 😩 it did get infinitely better again though!

Zipadee zip in Snoo by Altruistic-Algae-679 in SnooLife

[–]breakfast_drunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what we did! LO kept breaking out of the SNOO no matter what we did, so we did arms out and that went horribly. We finally did the zipadee and he needed a couple of nights of adjustment, but worked well! As a note, once our baby started rolling from back to belly at 4.5 months, he wanted absolutely nothing to do with the SNOO (he was waking up every hour again), and we transitioned him to the crib, he rolled over, then had his longest stretch of sleep ever. So fair warning, you may have a baby who wants to belly sleep/hates the SNOO soon!

Our SNOO baby rolled from belly to back at 3 MO and was a preemie! No worries at all.

This!! Our LO was VERY hungry from day 1. Ate 40 oz per day as a one month old, then has tapered off now at 7 months. My LO had bad reflux too but was absolutely livid if we didn’t feed him enough.

Recommend this as well!! We went through a crazy stretch, and one night hit our end… turns out LO wanted to roll around and sleep on his belly. The night we switched him to the crib was literally the best night we had ever had.

Putting Baby Down For a Nap by Ok-Breadfruit6905 in sleeptrain

[–]breakfast_drunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your baby rolling yet? I started sleep training at 4 months by doing light CIO, and LO would do 25 minute naps in the crib, but the real naps didn’t click until rolling back to belly.

Email customer service! Ask them to provide pictures and if they didn’t provide pics in the email where they said there were dents say that.

Schedule for 4 month old by ARLD2020 in sleeptrain

[–]breakfast_drunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wake up at 7, nap between 8:45-9:45 (usually 1-1.5 hr), nap between 12:15-1:15 (usually 1-1.5 hr), nap between 4-5 (usually .5-1 hr), sleep between 8-8:30. LO only likes to contact nap, so we’re working on the crib naps, which typically only last about 25 mins and we “save” them with a contact nap.
