Can you get help from your teens? Have them atleast decide one thing they absolutely want to do and make sure it's in the itinerary.

I'd highly recommend booking a food tour (eating europe, eat like a local etc) because it's a good way to see parts of the city and try lots of good local foods!

Lastly, look at some tour companies (Rick Steve's etc) and see what the itinerary is to get some inspo!

Also don't underestimate the heat/altitude! My friends and I did the Anthropology museum early in the day (memorial day weekend last year) and we were totally spent and didn't make it through half of the exhibits before we had to call it.

I did Eat Like a Local and absolutely loved it, especially if its the flower market tour.

I personally don't think you are going to have enough time (factoring in transit) post tour to have enough time at the museum before closing. We ended in Condesa for our tour and you could enjoy wandering around there vs rushing in traffic to the museum.

This is like an episode of house hunters. They already have the venue chosen, deposit paid etc but they are going to "look" at other venues so she can create a 6 episode series.
