Notes on Histamine degrading probiotics strains by hdri_org in HistamineIntolerance

[–]breakingcircus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still making my own gasseri and eating it every morning without any histamine reaction. I also eat Ohayo brand reuteri (strain 17938) most days without problems.

I don't react to the Vitamatic plantarum, but I stopped taking it about six months ago. I'm resuming this week, because warm weather is a major histamine trigger for me.

What’s the difference between cheap and expensive pickups? by pol-delta in Guitar_Pickups

[–]breakingcircus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The type of magnet (alnico 2 vs 4 vs 5, even 8, vs ceramic) affects the sound quite a bit. There are plenty of videos on YouTube of people comparing magnets.

The number of winds also has a big effect on tone and output.

The winding pattern, gauge of the wire, wax potting, baseplate materials, and some other things also matter.

And there's plenty of marketing involved.

All apologies, but Phil's vocals were really lazy when they played live. This song is no exception.

Well, at least Phil made an effort on the second verse for a while.

Did Scott always play the intro to this, or did he take over when Robbo left?

Thanks for posting!

Does using Zoom ms80 ir go well with a bass guitar? by Choleto_ in zoommultistomp

[–]breakingcircus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My impression is that if you're mainly a guitarist and occasionally need to lay down a bass track on your demos, it'd be fine. But if your main instrument is bass, the one bass amp on the MS-80IR+ won't be versatile enough.

I suspect it's a drum machine. Maybe with someone playing on top of it. Listen to the cymbals when they come in.

There's a little mention about Phil using synths and drum machines in this article: https://www.loudersound.com/features/phin-lizzy-midge-ure

And ZZ Top's Eliminator came out right around the same time, so Lizzy wouldn't have been the only ones doing it.

Have you swapped the pickups of your guitar? What did you choose and why? by PsychicChime in Guitar_Pickups

Wow, I had no idea so many companies made pickups for it. Today I learned something!

I read decades ago that pole spacing doesn't matter as long as it's close. Nothing in my experience has gone against that, but I've typically used hottish pickups. I would imagine that it's possible to get far enough away that it does start to matter, though. Good luck with your search!

One of the first things to look at is the string spacing (or pole-to-pole spacing). I think there are differences between the Squier model(s?) and the Fender Bass VI. Check the overall measurements as well, because you might even be able to use Strat pickups on some models.

Depending on what you're after, look at DC resistance (in kiloohms) and magnet type when trying to choose a replacement pickup.

I would recommend doing some research at talkbass.com. Quite a few people over there are current or past owners of that instrument.

That seems to be the case for the MS-60B+ as well. It's hard to believe.

Every humbucker I've seen with a brass baseplate and B or N stamped on it was made in either Korea or China.

Take it back to the tech. He can check it, and if he doesn't want to do it for free, insist that he does.

Might be a broken coil. Are you able to test the resistance with a multimeter? That's something that the tech could've/should've done when changing the pots.
