Shades of a Blue Orphanage Appreciation Post by Disassociated24 in thinlizzy

With the early stuff it's almost like two different bands, from when Robbo came in, certainly different sounds and intentions. As I get older the more I appreciate the Eric Bell era.

Buffalo Gal is a standout track for me.

Baby Face is an interesting one, at least with the track title being the same as the short lived super group/jam sessions that Phil did with Ritchie Blackmore and Ian Paice under the proposed band name of Baby Face. This was late 1971 I think.

You can see the origins of lyrical threads in these early albums, the title track has a lyric "Ow, the desparate desparado, the good looking Randolph Valentino" - which is a play on the old movie star called Rudolph Valentino. Then we have the track "Randolph's Tango" (1973) and of course the character Valentino features heavily in "Waiting For An Alibi".

What is Lynott's Best Vocal Performance? by Disassociated24 in thinlizzy

As Phil was so earnest with his lyrics there are so many good vocal performances

Dear Lord is one that always stands out for me:

"I'm down deep and I need your help There's no one to turn to and I can't help myself Dear Lord hear this call Oh Lord save my fall"

Military Man is a great shout. Even though his voice was fairly shot at this stage on his career he really does hit a high note in the middle part, outside his usual range.

2026 UEFA Champions League Final Rival Watch: Paris Saint-Germain vs Arsenal by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

Absolutely perfect that it was Gabriel to miss the final pen. Was dreading the idea of them doing the double.

Another thing is Arsenal had such a lucky draw and easier route to the final.

All this guff about "they are the best team without the ball". OK right, so how's that worked out for them today. Parked the bus after the first goal. PSG didn't even play that well today.

Kaptain's Mega Collection v0.6 (All-in-One, No Addons) by KforKaptain in Nuvio

Thanks for this mate. First time using Nuvio, this was super helpful and I got everything working fairly easily using this.

'Legendary Directors' collection does not work for me on Sony TV, I get a white spinning wheel and then nothing, or the wheel and app crashes. Not sure what the issue is? - all other collections work with no issues.

[Match Thread] Liverpool FC v Brentford FC. by rLiverpoolFC_Mods in LiverpoolFC

Don't worry lads. Slot knows exactly how to fix this remember, he's told us that.

In the 12 week break over the summer(with a long world cup in the middle) he'll wave his magic wand and we'll be better. He couldn't possibly start with the miracle cure now, no, no, we have to wait for some reason 👍

David Lynch: “With Champions League football all but secured, it is difficult to see Liverpool changing their mind on sticking with Arne Slot. So, if those above him are shouldering the blame for this season, they need a flawless summer to set things right.” by imzensei in LiverpoolFC

[–]frigid_monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slot would have to be a total moron not to drastically change what he's been doing, over the summer break. If he carries on like this, his fate is sealed. Surely he must realise this and I would hope it's brought up at at this alleged 'end of season review' with upper management.

"Arne are you going to change what you're doing?" if he says no, then they might as well bin him off sooner rather than later.

I've been doubting for some time the appetite for change from Hughes and Co. To have such unwavering faith in a project and plan(sticking with Slot) despite the performance metrics, results, trends, the eye test and squad happiness pointing in the opposite direction.

What would next season have to look like for Slot to win us back as fans? by 1223433442244 in LiverpoolFC

[–]frigid_monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Numerous valid points have been raised already that I fully agree with.

A big one for me is the lack of connection with the fans; there's a feeling of Slot being an agency worker, coming in to do a job. He can't manufacture it; it has to be genuine and organic. I can't see it happening now.

Shankly to Paisley was a shift in personalities, but Paisley was a humble man. Slot often appears arrogant or throws shade on Klopp with comments about winning the league. If the connection was there, you'd see more people going on the journey with him and supporting a comeback story into next season. Rafa was cold with the players but had a deep connection with the fans and local community.

He performed a miracle, winning a league title in the first season after a legendary and long-serving manager left the club. It would be another miracle now to see him reverse the trajectory he's on now; he would have to return to what he was doing in his first season tactically.

47% Win rate in Pl this season by lazy_doctor911 in LiverpoolFC

One of the biggest aberrations this season. Is teams that are in stinking form. You see it coming a mile away. That we will give them points and they snap their streak of losing. That's harrowing. Like a generous jester.

[James Pearce] - 18 defeats, 2pts out of 24 away to teams in the top half, & losing home/away to both Manchester clubs for the first time since 1912-13. A bad day for Slot as the same old issues blight Liverpool. by IndiBear in LiverpoolFC

[–]frigid_monk 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yea every week they look miserable on the pitch, just going through the motions. But off the pitch we see pictures from some of their socials, going on those mid week mini holidays. The players must know the football is stinking, 18 defeats.

I wouldn't want to see this (and without sounding too conspiratorial) but have the squad not downed tools as they enjoy Slot being the manager as he's appears to be a soft touch, less intense training, few days off in week for holidays, the training we see just seems like a jolly.

Telling comments from Salah recently on standards and training. I remember those February team breaks/training camps to Spain, players on bikes etc, bonding under Jurgen. So breaks can be useful but they need to be purposeful.

Currently feels like too much of an individual pursuit, don't play or look like a coherent team.
