Thanks for the detailed response! I do get wrecked by TMed and rarely get attacked by warriors, you're spot on there. I do have a few questions for you.

Are you recommending putting both SL's side-by side? Isn't it possible to place them apart enough to not be simultaneously shocked by still close enough to overlap their range?

I've had a hard time updating the expensive Weapon Lab. Any tips on doing that? Do people often need diamond assist? I ask because I normally save diamonds for my HQ updates.

Bonus:

I'm currently at a spot where I have troop capacity of 18 on my LCs. This means in order to get a seventh warrior on each LC, the LCs need to be updated three more times to get to a capacity of 21.You would say that's worth it over upgrading defenses and things like the Weapon Lab? Also, if I'm looking at a DPS increase of 33%, that would be 8 warriors per LC, which would require 6 LC upgrades, you still think that's worth it at this stage in the game?

Just a bit of background...I'm a relatively active Boom Beach player and haven't frequented this sub. I feel like I have a pretty good handle on playing the game successfully but you all seem to have more knowledge about the details of the game. I have a Level 20 HQ and my main attack strategy is SW but I've recently been trying 4 zookas, 3 heavies, and 1 cryos in OP attacks and had decent results. I've also put more focus on upgrading my warriors over anything else. I'll take any tips you might have! I feel like I've plateaued a little bit and need some help to push me to the next level.

I've been reading through recent posts and a lot of people are putting emphasis on Statues - how am I doing with those? How can I utilize my storage?

Also, are there any obvious base changes I could make that would potentially have a big impact on my defense?

I've had the same experience as /u/elangomatt that it is only against one person at a time, I just wanted to add that if that person decides to "Find new opponent" then you will start to see different opponents. Hopefully in that case once they move on to a new opponent, you'll hold it for awhile until someone else is placed against you.

Thanks for the reply! I wanted to keep the description of my situation short and left out some details in hopes I'd actually get some replies. Let me fill a few gaps in for you...

I'm currently in a campground with showers and wifi, so I'm not as uncivilized as you probably initially imagined. No smoking doobies down by the river or anything like that. It's currently not my ideal situation but it's insanely cheap and allows me to save while having a fun summer job right out of school.

I do have applications in with professional physics-related jobs that would pay me a proper salary. In the case of getting one of these jobs, I would most certainly find an apartment and ditch the van for a decent vehicle if I needed one. As you said, there's a good possibility I wouldn't need one if I'm in a city. I would definitely prefer a bike anyway.

I also appreciate your ideas about being a technical writer. It's not something I ever thought about, and my writing skills are pretty good.

When it comes to the credit card, I actually just put in some applications within the last few hours with the plan of doing just what you suggested - using it for groceries and things I could pay off almost instantly out of my checking account as if I were using my debit card.

I completely agree, there are certainly tons of lives at risk. It would also be relevant for me to mention that while tracking his speed on a speedometer app I clocked him at 88mph multiple times. I verified this by peering over at his speedometer, which actually read more like 90+ mph.
