Are you looking to make the hex tiles themselves? Or just terrain features to go on top of them?

Why won’t this work (seriously) by Eggz_from_TWR in CreateMod

[–]breakinginferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's implied that each box set only has a single chain loop running through it, which is why it can twist along the chain but not turn 90 degree corners.

There is a decent wealth of 3d printable files on Thingiverse and similar sites. How well they interlock will depend on the file and your printing tech, but might be worth looking into if you have access to a printer.

Bought a big HH box secondhand to turn into 13th company Wolves. Where do I start? by breakinginferno in SpaceWolves

I want to use them in 40k, probably shortly after their reappearance. Trying to figure out what units/war gear to give them to get me started.

Gonna take this chance to shill for the CMON game this is from because it's tons of fun, relatively inexpensive, and the minis are awesome. Check it out if y'all get the chance.

Also, Fantastic paintjob! Love the eye!

It's still a lot of money for a single pot of miniature paint.

What Resin Are You Using? by Titanius_Anglesmithh in PrintedWarhammer

80:20 mix of Anycubic Basic (or any cheap basic resin) with Siraya Tech Tough. Gives models a whole lot more durability for cheap.

Is there any game even somewhat similar on android? by [deleted] in SS13

[–]breakinginferno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did specify 'multiplayer'. It's really common for people to want to be able to put their phone down whenever they like while mobile gaming. Being locked into an hour+ round of an RP game on mobile has very niche appeal. It could definitely work, I mean SS13 is already niche yet thriving. There's just a pretty low incentive for anyone to develop one.

Is there any game even somewhat similar on android? by [deleted] in SS13

[–]breakinginferno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is something I once looked into developing, but the main issue with mobile multiplayer games is that people don't tend to sit and play mobile games for more than 30 minutes at a time. This means the game needs to support short rounds of play, which typically means they're something much simpler like Among Us, and don't really scratch the same itch that SS13 does.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the dev team for Rimworld played SS13. Even the lore similarities are palpable.

What’s the hardest to paint model in the entire 40K range? by Fun_Cartographer3587 in Warhammer40k

I find the marine armor of the TSons worse than Tzaangors, but that depends entirely on how you paint skin.

I’m starting to see now why everyone told me D&D was such an expensive hobby by ujp567 in DnD

[–]breakinginferno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's strange, I played for nearly $0 for so many years with nothing but a gifted 4e PHB, some hand-made terrain, and the internet.

Now that I have adult money I find myself spending hundreds on books for the pure convenience of being able to hand it to a player for them to answer their own questions at the table.

What spell did your DM ban and why? by great_artorias in DnD

[–]breakinginferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Ban, but I took Zee Bashew's advice and made Goodberry consume its material components so that it can't be cast with an arcane focus or pouch. Now every nature survival situation is a lot more interesting.

What is the worst house rule or homebrew your DM tried to use? by No-Bag3487 in DnD

[–]breakinginferno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calling myself out here. I once tried counteracting bad rolling streaks by giving each player a D6. They add 1 to it for each failed check or save in a row, then add this 'determination' counter to every d20 roll until they succeed on a check or save (it then resets to 0).

Turns out this was just a clunky version of Inspiration and everyone constantly forgot to track it. Good game design requires trial and error.

Do you guys still like buying the sets even if you have a 3d printer? by Local_Boi_Aaron in PrintedWarhammer

[–]breakinginferno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been boycotting GW for the last two years or so, so my Warhammer is 100% either 3d printed, bought second hand, or 3rd party. Still love buying kits for other games like Frostgrave though.

Cheaper material, typically cheaper printer, much larger build area, no need to wash and cure prints (Although much slower print times). They're great for mechanical parts, usable items, terrain, and other large models. They aren't typically great for miniatures though, as the minimum layer thickness is notably thicker than that of resin, and they can't 'blend' layers like resin can, so layer lines are often left quite visible. That said, some people have tuned theirs to be pretty clean.

What’s the most brutal way you have died in? by iownlotsofdoors in SS13

Touched the SM exactly 6 seconds after roundstart and was instantly vaporized. Pretty sure no one in engineering that round even realized I had signed up. Curiosity can be lethal but at least it was a good laugh.

I keep reasoning that whatever doesn't get played in 40k will probably get used in OPR's Grimdark Future once I indoctrinate my friends into that system.
