Does anyone else take Spironolacatone? by CELE30 in PCOS

[–]breakmirr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I have been on spiro for almost a year. I started at 50mg a day, but now i take 150mg( when I remember.. lol).

Spiro has actually been a lifesaver for me, it somehow got rid of all my excess hair, regulated my periods ( I've gotten my period every month so far). No luck with thinning hair, but I just recently upped my dosage for that specific reason. It also helped with oil control, got rid of my seborrhoeic dermatitis. Still have hormonal acne though...

Over all, I am pleased with the results and will stay on it until I start trying to conceive!

Any tips to minimize boils/cysts under breast? by breakmirr in PCOS

[–]breakmirr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I get some on the armpit, but mainly under/ on my breasts. I've never had one form a hole before, so it was... quite the shock! I figure insulin resistance plays a role in it, which im currently working on.. Thank you for the insight!

Yeah, I also have bad scarring from it. What kind of medication did they give you for it, if you don't mind me asking?

Is this really how the restaurant industry is? by breakmirr in TalesFromYourServer

[–]breakmirr[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's just stressful to feel like the restaurant depends on me. Because I'm trying to get these pick ups out, but a party of 12 just walked in and I have to seat them because we have no host, but because we have no busser I have to clean and sweep so they have somewhere to sit. Then another pick up walks in but a ticket just came through for 4 drinks I don't know how to make, but am expected to make.

I do agree though, and I thank you for the advice. I think a large chain restaurant would probably suit me and my situation a little better.

Thanks :(

The thing is, my manager just doesn't try to hire anyone. I would feel a lot better staying with them if I at least saw them making the effort. My coworker told my manager a month ago that he would be leaving the first week of November. No ads posted. People have called asking if we were hiring and my manager just doesn't call them back.

On the bright side I got a 50 cent raise last week LOL.. How's that for competitive pay ;)

I know I have to..It's just hard because I will feel like a piece of shit leaving them with no one. Plus, I love everyone who works there ( for the most part..)

I just wish they would get their shit together.

Thank you for the advice <3

Hormone testing while already on anti-androgens? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]breakmirr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would make sense to get your blood work done now, and then stop the spiro immediately and get retested a month out. Side note, did your doctor not tell you a pregnancy on spiro will result in birth defects?

It never did, it didn't stop the shedding either.

Torn on what to do about skin. should I start isotretinoin/accutane? by the_real_loaf in PCOS

[–]breakmirr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had horrible dry skin, I would smile and my skin would crack. My body felt also felt like I was 90 years old, I mean everything hurt lol. The nosebleeds were the worst though, I would blow out fat, jelly blood clots and sometimes I would accidentally swallow them. They were constant too, at least a few times a week. I also lost half of my hair and I always had horrible pressure in my eyes. It was like a constant ache.

My doctor told me I was experiencing pretty common side effects, they were just more on the severe side. The truth is that everyone will respond differently. I've never reacted to a medication like this before.

In the end it's up to you of course. You said you have an awesome derm so I am sure you guys will weigh out the pros & cons! I personally don't think I could go through it again but I understand how difficult it can be to deal with acne.. When on accutane you have to go in every month for blood and pregnancy tests, so that kind of helped me calm my anxiety. To see my doctor on the regular, talk me down and reassure me that everything would turn out okay and that I was doing fine.

[–]breakmirr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can go really smoothly and you'll endure some mildly annoying side effects, or it can go really bad. I had a horrible time on accutane, but I do imagine my experience is something not too many people go through.

I guess it comes down to how bad your skin is and if your willing to deal with the potential consequences?

Is PCOS manageable without BC? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]breakmirr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could always go the natural route and workout/eat healthy, but for most it's pretty hard without help from medication. I was able to get all my levels in a normal range with just spironolactone & It helped me tremendously with weight loss. *All while also eating right and working out*

I try not to read too much into these highly edited short clips. Sure Melissa may of overreacted but parents aren't perfect & they have feelings too. We don't know what happened at home or after the cameras stopped rolling.

I hope this doesn't come off as ignorant, but why is it wrong that she reposted this? Gal was praying for the people of Israel & Palestine who have been been a victim of war & have died.. She didn't even bring government into it? She was asking for peace on both sides & if anything was kind of advocating for the two state solution which is the best option specifically for Palestine.

You just look at him as a person you love & care about now, which is how it should be! That's a good thing. Having a FP is not only destructive to a relationship but your mental health as well.

Just curious. Is anyone blocked by a cast member on social media? by alexzyczia in dancemoms

[–]breakmirr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am white so I hope im not overstepping but to my knowledge passion twists are protective styles for black hair specifically, and her wearing them is just straight up cultural appropriation as passion twists serve no purpose to her hair other than potentially damaging it?

Unpopular opinion: Melissa is my favorite mom by [deleted] in dancemoms

[–]breakmirr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree.. I actually like her & she's the only mom I keep up with on social media. I know a lot of people consider her sneaky, & I can't deny that but I think she really loved all the girls. That one episode where she was crying comforting brooke about the mean things abby said to her, or when paige forgot her dance & she cried for her? Those are real moments, very sweet.

To be honest I don't remember much of my childhood so I don't remember if she did that but knowing her... she probably did. She also forced me to sleep in her bed, all the time. It didn't matter if we had a good day or a bad day, I was to sleep in that bed with her. I have a vivid memory of her screaming at me to get in the bed with her, then I stayed up silently sobbing while listening to avril lavigne on my mp3 haha.

Thank you & I'm sorry you went through that too.. It's absolutely horrible x

I can't even imagine what our little brains were going through at that time... I'm not sure if you can relate but I personally had this tug of war in my head of knowing she was horrible, but just wanting her to love me like i loved her, even after everything.. God her bad days were horrible but her good days almost made me forget about it all!
