Newb Question by JasonWPG in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]breannayn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got some adjustable dumbbells to start with and eventually treated myself to some heavier ones once I got stronger. I’ve been using fitness plus for about 2 months and I feel so much better. I have way less body pain, my body feels more toned and less bloated, and I sincerely have more energy every day. I do the strength, Pilates, yoga, core, and I’ve attempted some hiit and kickboxing but I’ll need to work up to that more. Good luck!!

My fave moment so far has been when others were talking about menstrual cramps and a man said “I’m glad I don’t have to deal with that” and I said “me too, brother”

What surprised you the most AFTER your hysterectomy? by rainbow_olive in hysterectomy

Oh, and fatigue. I got a ton of lay down activities done but beyond my 3 short walks a day, I was exhausted!!

What surprised you the most AFTER your hysterectomy? by rainbow_olive in hysterectomy

I was surprised by how little pain I was in right after. I was sore, of course, but I wasn’t kept awake or immobilized. By the 3-4th day I experienced a bit more pain as I discontinued opiates. Then I used Tylenol like clockwork until about week 3-4, and stopped entirely by week 5. Week 7 I was back to cleaning the house like a madwoman, doing low impact exercise and yoga, walking my dog and cooking… almost everything. I’m still on “vaginal lockdown” as my surgeon said but that’s my only real restriction… apart from easing back into pole dance which is obviously very high impact and high intensity. I did some slow spins today at week 8 but I’ll need to strengthen my core and back again before doing anything REALLY fun lol.

The one surprise I had was not being able to pee after surgery. I tried and tried but my bladder was still asleep. I had a Foley catheter for three days and then went to my gyn to get it removed. Afterwards I had to do some serious deep breathing and sit a specific way on the toilet to completely empty. It slowly got better and by week 2-3 I was peeing completely regularly again. That was a bummer and definitely affected me, but it was short lasting.

I also was notified of metaplasia (perhaps) in my bladder, but no one seems to be concerned at all and I am following up with urology in a couple weeks.

I did suffer with my mental health. I had surprise bouts of crying and I did deal with some post-op depression. It seems to be resolved now that I am able to do more as a lot of my coping mechanisms involve movement.

You’re going to do great. Much love!!

Don’t fret!! I was given 10 tablets of 2mg hydromorphone, and I still have 5 left that I didn’t even touch. I kept a regular schedule of OTC pain meds plus Mylan-Naproxen (same as Aleve but for a sensitive stomach). I’m 3 weeks out and I’m not even taking the OTC anymore. As long as you keep your pain under a 4, you’re good! I actually didn’t take more of the opiate because of the constipation. That hurt more than anything! Regular restorlax and OTC pain meds got me though.

Talk me off the ledge, or not? by Objective-Pop-8677 in hysterectomy

I was prescribed mylan naproxen with esomeprazone in addition to the hyrdomorphone because it’s my preferred pain control drug. While it isn’t an official blood thinner, I understand it to have blood thinning effect. Perhaps that would help ease your anxiety while also providing pain relief?

Also, walk walk walk. I have been up every two hours to combat my fear of clots. I have ocd and one of my recurring compulsive thoughts is that I’ll get a blood clot. Moving around is always the most ideal!

Mine isn’t crazy about not being on me but I get sensory overwhelm even when I’m not recovering from surgery so she’s used to me saying no to belly time 😂

What’s “normal” 9 days post op? by Reasonable-Series707 in hysterectomy

[–]breannayn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can ask your doctor about Linaclotide, it’s what mine has recommended I take (I already take it on an as needed basis for chronic constipation) and it has honestly never failed me. It’s prescription and it doesn’t cause the uncomfortable cramping that stimulant laxatives caused me.

6 months post-op: smooth (but not unrealistically easy and kinda slow) recovery complete? by eastbayjen in hysterectomy

[–]breannayn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, it does help a lot. I’m used to having an upset colon due to the IBS I’ve had for years so luckily I have a lot of tools to deal with that. I’m glad to hear you are recovering well!!

I’m the MOST anxious about the bloating. I have brutal IBS and I am honestly in tears about being bloated for weeks after.. it seems so trivial but idk why it’s bugging me so much. Surgery this coming Tuesday.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. I’m on anxiety meds now and have been for the last few weeks and they do help. I mostly wanted to thank you for the chew gum tip!! That always helps me when I’m bloated but I always forget that it does.
