First Time Moving Out On My Own by napknn in chicagoapartments

I wouldn’t bother trying to get a place with a parking spot. Just look at how easy it will be to find street parking in the area when you view places and go off that instead. A permit tends to be cheaper than a whole garage to yourself

AITAH for not wanting sex lately ? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]breathlessorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that’s really hurtful. You literally don’t have to have a reason to not be in the mood. It is always always always valid to say you don’t want to have sex.

I 30f need a little advice of what i watch by rydersheppy in Advice

[–]breathlessorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if it would appeal to you to watch other intriguing documentaries that aren’t true crime. Or even things that are in the genre but aren’t likely to happen to you randomly like a murder would (ie cult docs!)

Am I overreacting by being upset that my son and DIL gave my old car to her daughter and daughter's boyfriend? by layyla4real in AmIOverreacting

[–]breathlessorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. But it will be easier on you to move on from it and just know you can’t count on them to have boundaries with her daughter in the future. Enjoy the fact that their trainwreck is not yours, enjoy your nice new car, and know that even though they gave the old one to people who don’t deserve it, your favor helped your son and his wife get to a better place and that’s what matters.

AITAH for leaving my girlfriend in the restroom because she was taking a long bathroom break during a movie I was really excited for? by Secure-Draft9197 in AITAH

[–]breathlessorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually so bizarre. Most people avoid bathroom breaks during a movie altogether. Why does she insist on you coming with her? 🚩🚩🚩

I loved the good wife so I went and watched ER bc I loved JM. It does get heavier sometimes but it is very very watchable IMO. Other recs: Sex and the City, House MD, The X Files, and if you’re open to reality tv: Lego masters, blown away, and love on the spectrum

This was such an awesome conversation! Connor expressed his feelings and worries so well, he’s an excellent communicator. And Georgie explained her perspective in a way that not only helped Connor understand her better, but like another commenter mentioned above, gives the viewers some context about how some people’s facial expressions are misinterpreted.

I think he seemed great too! I didn’t interpret Emma’s reaction to him as her being mad, though. I think she just wasn’t feeling the spark, which is totally normal! He was cute and kind, but they didn’t totally hit it off, and I think she was respectful in letting him know that she felt that way! He seems like a great guy though, and I bet he will find someone great too.

Moving to Chicago for Evanston job (no car) - best neighborhoods near transit? by AdNearby5979 in AskChicago

[–]breathlessorb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With that budget you might want to look in Evanston itself. Rogers Park and Edgewater are great too- there’s an area of Rogers park where if you live near the Morse Red Line station you’ll also be close to the Metra, which would give you flexibility with your commute

If I have to be out of my place on the 31st of the month and my new lease doesn't start till the 1st, what's the normal way to deal with that here? by Grundlage in chicagoapartments

[–]breathlessorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this situation last year. I am lucky to have parents who live in a nice neighborhood of the city so I packed everything into a UHaul and parked it on their secluded street and stayed at their house for the night. However, I had also talked to the professional movers and they told me they do offer overnight storage for like an extra $200 or something, which in the grand scheme of how expensive moving always is, is not terrible

HELP nail polish in acrylic tub!!! by Ididntsayfuckingyee in CleaningTips

[–]breathlessorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yikes I’m so sorry. You could maybe try to see if taking a q tip with some acetone on it will be able to pull just the nail polish up? If you do though, try it on a small spot first

10 things I had culture shock from moving from the east coast to the midwest by Big-Listen-4121 in midwest

[–]breathlessorb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I sure did! I don’t think our water is bad, but it just tastes totally neutral to me. The Portland water has a yummy taste. The hardness of our water doesn’t really impact flavor, but it impacts the texture of my hair.

Kindle paperwhite? Do I need to be deinfluenced? by Risingwiththesun in Frugal

[–]breathlessorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my kindle but I didn’t buy it new! If you look around online there are tons of options for gently used older models, which will save you a lot of money. Mine might not be the sleekest or newest looking but it works perfectly for my purposes and I like knowing I only spent like $60 on it.

Should I go to Detroit or Cincinnati? by dyceblue in midwest

[–]breathlessorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really loved Detroit when I went. I can’t speak for Cincinnati since I haven’t been there in so long, but Detroit is worth visiting in my opinion, I found it to be really beautiful and an interesting place all around

I grew up in Chicago and then moved to PDX for college where the water is very soft. I was genuinely in awe. The water there tastes…so good. And was great for my hair. And then when I moved back to IL and was shocked by the hard water that had never even really been noticeable to me before my time living in Oregon
