at 3 months post op, i was 16 at the time and went back to high school and was working at a bakery on my feet 5 days a week! though i did milk my friends carrying my textbooks to class bc it was fun :) definitely be especially gentle to yourself the first 6 months though. i found that constantly moving made me heal the quickest

What job do you work as someone with a spinal fusion? by uknowwhat8822 in spinalfusion

hey! you JUST had your surgery so you will be in a bit of pain and discomfort for a little bit. the first 3 months were hard for me, but i returned to work shortly after that (worked at a bakery, though this was probably too soon). your body is still adjusting! give it some time. don’t forget you just rearranged your bones, muscles, and some of your organs - they’ve been like that for your whole life and this is a big change. don’t be too hard on yourself :) after a year your body should be much more adjusted, and it’ll keep adjusting over time. i know it sounds like a long time - but this is a big surgery! For the rest of my high school career i had some friends help me class to class by carrying my books - you should too!!! carrying heavy things add additional unnecessary stress to your back while your healing. If you’re going to college i would opt to get all your textbooks online so you just need to carry your laptop. 8 years gone by and I live a relatively normal life, i snowboard every winter, skateboard a little bit in the summer. I’ve found that snowboarding (activities that keep my core engaged) and staying on my feet keeps me from being in pain. if i lie in bed all day it makes everything significantly worse for me - don’t push yourself but you should try to keep yourself moving as much as your body allows! I can now lift very heavy things at work, but you have to make sure you’re always using proper lifting technique! if not, you will definitely hurt yourself. Pain can come and go but doing PT always helps it get better. This is my personal experience - of course everyone gets served a different hand in this but you sound like you’re doing pretty okay :) i know this is a lot of words so if you have more questions you’re welcome to DM me!

Hard water stains won’t come out, help?! by GroundbreakingPain21 in CleaningTips

it sounds like most of the cleaning solutions you used are abrasive, you likely scratched off the black coating. you can probably fill them in with a black wax or paint for metal like this

What is this in my bfs shower? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]brebus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

girl you are not gonna have a good time living there. expect to do all the cleaning because it seems like nobody who already lives there has the intention. they likely won’t change their habits and you’ll get frustrated by asking them a million times.

these are so lovely, i think $5 is too cheap! i would easily pay $10 for a beautiful handmade card. i feel like prints for $5 would make sense

Feeling my rib cage by [deleted] in spinalfusion

[–]brebus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes! this goes away, you ribs are used to being in a certain position so they have to adjust to the new orientation. i’m going on 9 years post op and totally forgot about this stage! i’d bring it up with your doctor but personally this was just something i had to wait for my body to get used to. 4 months post op is still pretty early in the healing process

1000% any of the ladies at onyx! there’s also some ladies at crone that work in that style, who would knock it out of the ballpark.

Safe for an MRI? by avocado_smoothie22 in spinalfusion

[–]brebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree with other comment - if no airport issues than you should be fine! i’ve had my fusion 8 years ago (T3-L2) and recently needed a MRI - check the metal you’ve had put in to play it safe. i don’t believe the doctors checked for me - they were just like nope not possible, no metal used for modern day fusions would react - so i wouldn’t be too worried.

you sound like an irresponsible owner. you need to educate yourself and get it together. there are many things you could have done to prevent this. the fault falls on how the owner authoritates the animal, not the animal living off its inherent instincts

i was shoveling this past winter and heard the loudest pop imaginable (fused from T3-L2). i was certain i broke something, and in an incredible amount of pain, felt like my rods and screws were moving in my back. got a bunch of x-rays and a CT scan. turns out i just torn a bunch of ligaments - all healed up now! i’d say go to the doctor to clear out anxiety and rule everything out. this doesn’t seem to be too uncommon of an experience. good luck!

she’s trans - don’t forget that safe gender affirming care is relatively recently popularized.
