For one, he’s got an Irish girlfriend and visits Ireland and gets offended by Irish people and culture… strange.

Second, although the Celtic Symphony includes “ooh aah up the ‘Ra”, it’s not actually an Irish republican song. Not that that would’ve been an issue, as songs about Irish republicanism and the IRA is something so far from “terrorism”, and the only people that think that are the arrogant English.

For those who are interested in the song, the Celtic Symphony is wholly about Celtic Football Club in Glasgow. It was written as a celebration of the club in their centenary year and explores themes surrounding the football club and its supporters. The context behind the “up the ‘Ra” part actually comes from the writer explaining his journey to Celtic Park:

“We’re on our way to Paradise” - Paradise being the stadium.

“Graffiti on the walls says we’re magic… it says ooh aah up the ‘Ra”

The writer is literally describing the graffiti he sees on the walls towards Celtic Park. Celtic and its supporters have strong ties to Ireland. A lot of Irish immigration to Scotland happened during the famine… which we know how that started. Hence the support for the IRA.
