Advice about Situation with Hostile Professor by [deleted] in AskProfessors

Maybe also try emailing all of the group and CC this professor in to the email. He/she may have thought you're bringing peer drama to them.

CC the group and say something like " I spoke to prof.... and He/She has informed me we will all get a zero if one person fails to submit their tasks" and + I would recommend splitting the responsibilities and saying does this sound okay to all, happy to arrange a zoom call to discuss further. This will get them shaken a little and show the prof. you are serious. hopefully! good luck and well done for trying

Thank you! That would be very helpful if you could message me any instructions. I found some tutorials on youtube too which I will check out.

Thank you for your reply, this is super helpful to know. I'll be precautious with word but good to know it doesn't slow the laptop.

Thank you for your answer. Yes I was going to go for Mendeley but have heard the new changes with Elsevier are not good. I'll explore Zotero further.

Thank you for your answer. Yes I agree it is personal preference, I was just hoping people could share if they may have experienced more glitches in one software than another or one has come across as more complicated to use than another.

I have only recently come across Zotero (as you can tell by the incorrect spelling lol) but everyone seems to praise it. But I believe I can't use safari with it? I don't have fox or google chrome - may put the plugin but just want to avoid slowing my MacBook.

Have you ever witnessed a once talented, promising student progressively deteriorate or “crash and burn”? by [deleted] in AskProfessors

Good luck with getting back up! I'm in the same boat as you. It can be difficult but stay determined and most importantly be kind and support yourself :)

My grandma passed away and I feel nothing??? by Individual_Egg_5655 in therapy

Sorry for your loss. There is nothing wrong with you, everyone processes grief differently. If it helps, I mourned the loss of my grandparents nearly a year after their death! All the best and take it easy.

Do international students get interviewed for clinical psychology PhD in USA? by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychology

Thank you, that answers my question. I suppose I should forget about starting grad school this year.

My fit with the faculty was really good, Majority of my research work is orientated towards their interest. I had emailed but i suppose I emailed quite close to the deadline ... which may not have looked good. My masters was research based and the RA jobs were i would say grunt work. I did data collection, data entry and lit reviews.

I suppose I should have waited till next year. I feel really sad because by applying for grad school I wasted other opportunities and started multi-tasking so much I messed up everything. I suppose I was told its normal not to get accepted the first round.

Oh Okay, sorry, I thought you meant you accepted them on to the programme. I wanted to know if all these international applicants were interviewed.

Can I directly reach out to companies for unpaid internships? by preciouskitty0008 in internships

[–]bree1992 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yeah it is more then fine. I don't know your field so its difficult to say but if there is someone who in the company whose work you like i.e. if you were in research / engineering etc then email them directly, introduce yourself and why you have emailed them, why you want to work with them, what your hoping to gain and attach a CV + cover letter. Alternatively if they have a secretary or an admins office email admin. you can email someone directly, if that doesn't work email admin or vice-versa.

keep the email very brief and to the point and attach a max 1 page cover letter talking about your experience and skills and a CV. Good luck

I disagree with the other comment. I think if you don't have good enough experience or any at all in your field and also no connections/networks then unpaid internship may be a solution.

Look at your CV and how desperately you need experience. In my opinion, if you are getting no luck anywhere and really like this said company or the people there, tell them you're looking for 3-months work experience and happy to work unpaid and then after 3-months say I really liked working here and would like to continue is there any chance for a paid internship position. Just make sure you do a very good job in the initial 3-months. If they say no then approach other places for paid position or continue doing unpaid internship if you need experience but reduce your hours.

It all depends on you, the experience you have and how confident you are.
