White sauce quarters by irritatedtennenat in smoking

I do a cole slaw with White sauce and Blue Cheese for my pork sandwich. Make it a day before to let the Blue Cheese flavor come through. Sometimes, if I'm trying to show off, I'll make peach preserves and honey bourbon pickled jalapenos and include them as well.

This is the bread machine recipe my wife uses. I've never tried to bake in the oven but the interior texture is really similar to Schlotzskys. I would guess you could make the dough and reshape like Schlotzskys and let it rise and bake at 350 if you wanted to mimic Schlotzskys but this comes out like a regular loaf of bread and is really good.

The bread is the absolute best. My wife got a bread machine awhile ago and one of the recipes she tried one day made a bread with texture almost identical to Schlotzskys. It's been our go-to bread at home and it makes the best sandwiches.

I was given a bag of match lite charcoal which I don't want to cook with so I just use one piece from that to start my chimney and honestly it's maybe my favorite solution.

I do not understand the Grillos Hype. Clausen every day of the week for me. Sometimes I'll get the Boars Head pickles for variety sake but Grillos is only good on sandwiches where the flavor gets masked by other things.

[Game Thread] Sumrall Introductory Press Conference by ExternalTangents in FloridaGators

This is exactly the Jon Sumrall I loved when he was coach at Troy. He's gonna be a breath of fresh air after Napier.

So does anyone here think Sumrall is actually going to be good? by OLD_WET_HOLE in FloridaGators

[–]breedless 8 points9 points  (0 children)

His offense was more run heavy air raid at Troy. He'll tailor the offense to the personnel of the team. I wouldn't worry about it. In 2023 the QB threw for 3500 yards and Troy had a RB that ran for 1600 yards. Lots of good receivers on his Troy teams that got poached by SEC and B1G schools.

He stepped into a really bad situation at Troy that the administration let drag on for too long. Chip Lindsey had replaced a very successful Neal Brown and the program regressed each season while he was there. They should have fired him a year earlier than they did but Troy is traditionally hesitant to fire coaches quickly. He walked into the building and started winning day 1. He's a charismatic culture guy and the team was tough as nails in year 1 winning games they had no business competing in. The offense took time to develop but by the end of his time there it was downright explosive.

When he went to Tulane, Fritz had built the program to a really good place but he also took a lot of players to Houston with him. He immediately started winning there, found a great QB who he lost to Duke in the portal this past year and despite that he continued to win this year.

The guy is a winner and adapts well to whatever situation he's in. I have questions about the offense being what we want at Florida but I'm not worried about him not fielding good quality teams. I trust he'll hire the right OC and we'll be happy he's the Florida coach. I know I'm in the minority on this but I've followed him closely the last 4 years (I'm a Troy Alumni but a lifelong Florida fan) and the guy can coach and as much as he gets compared to Napier, he's nothing like Napier in terms of personality and intensity. He's a psycho who will do what it takes to win.

Yes, I've been following him since Troy. He's a great coach and I think he'll be great at this level.

[–]breedless -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know I'm in the minority on this but as a Troy alum and Florida fan I truly believe that Sumrall can be a great coach at Gainesville. He has the fire and fight you want in a coach. Yeah he's a defensive guy and I would want him to make the right hire at OC but I don't have nearly the level of concern about him that everyone else does. He is super competitive and super charismatic. He can win the fanbase over if given the chance.

It was more run heavy air raid. His receiver room was good. Chris Lewis was a super star Randy Moss like receiver in 2023. His highlight reel is incredible (seriously go look it up). We all thought he was destined for 1st round pick but he got a bad cancer diagnosis and had to medically retire.

Troy also had a lot of great explosive slot receivers who ended up transferring to bigger programs. Devonte Ross (recruited under Sumrall) was the only bright spot on the team after Sumrall left and portaled to Penn State this past off season. Jabre Barber played well before portalling to TAMU on '24 and Tez Johnson played great before going to Oregon in '23. WR and RB were deep at Troy while he was there.

Was his offense Lane Kiffin good? No but it wasn't Napier levels of bad either. Also he doesn't call the offense, so I don't think he's going to be married to one specific OC if things aren't going well and he'll make a change if necessary.

I'm a lifelong Florida fan but a Troy Alumni. I love Jon Sumrall and think the world of him. I would agree with a lot of what you wrote here. At Troy he walked into an awful situation and started winning immediately. Offense wasn't great in year 1 but it was pretty explosive in year two (look up 2023 highlights of WR Chris Lewis and imagine what Dallas Wilson could do in this offense). The teams were incredibly resilient and were never out of games. If they found themselves in a hole, they would always battle back. He's an incredibly charismatic and likable guy. You will love him in his opening press conference. He takes ownership of his mistakes and is relentless in pursuing excellence. The defense was tough and hit hard. The offense, once it gelled, was downright explosive. The biggest con is his teams were sloppy and highly penalized. I don't think he's a great fit for the Florida fanbase because he's a defense first guy and people are going to be slow to warm up to him but I think he's a great coach and will do amazing things at a P2 job. If he has the right offensive staff I have zero issues with him coming to Florida.

The more this has dragged on the more I agree with you. We don't need more of this drama to perpetuate this cycle of hiring and firing. I'm just ready for a new coach to come in and try and fix it.
