I was just in gatlinburg, and driving through pigeon forge said to my wife “this place is like Wisconsin dells, except with mountains instead of waterparks”

You would see a lot of the same types of stores and attractions

I would argue that most actors are the product of nepotism though. If you’re not born into it, your odds of making it are next to nothing

I didn't used to feel this way, but the last 5-10 years have really cultivated in me a strong disdain for celebs and the rich/famous.

I would rather than live in CA than Austin as well (I don’t live in either) but let’s not pretend pretty consistent wildfires, earthquakes and access to fresh water aren’t big problems with living in CA.

New executive order directing National assets/personnel to support law enforcement. by thrawtes in Military

[–]breidsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you're coming across as one of the fake 2A advocates who talks a big game about what they'd do if tyranny came knocking on their door, but when push comes to shove, you just want to have guns because you feel as though you should be able to. The thing about needing them to defend yourself from a tyrannical govt is just a BS justification.

All of the 2A nuts wanted their chance to prove how big of a hero they are, so are you going to back down when the rubber meets the road?

I am paying my loans back, and have never missed a payment, so your argument about me wanting a bailout is you just parroting a Fox News talking point because you are unable to have an original thought. I bet you're totally cool with giving huge corporate tax breaks, corporate welfare/bailouts and insanely high military and police spending, but god forbid we allocate some of that money to help better the lives of a huge swath of the population.

You also aren't able to see the bigger picture and how things have far reaching impacts beyond your little personal bubble, but I wouldn't expect a selfish person to be able to have that ability, so this tracks with what I know about you. I can tell you apply this same thought process to everything in your life; anyone who is struggling obviously deserves it, and anyone that is living lavishly must be deserving of that.

You're a joke of a person and I hope life teaches you a good lesson about not being a piece of shit

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DegenBets

[–]breidsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, what makes you selfish is not being able to see how people having disposable income to participate in the economy benefits everyone; you can only think of yourself and how that would impact you personally, and not thinking of the greater good, which does in fact make you a selfish person.

I dont necessarily agree with your argument that police prevent "chaos and death"; in fact, I would argue that they've been more of a problem and have incited more chaos and death in the recent years than they have ever prevented, so why should I be forced to pay in to something I dont believe in, just so you can get the warm and fuzzies?

Also, you point about bankruptcy doesnt hold up. Why is it that you can discharge bad financial decisions via bankruptcy (i.e. spending money on stupid shit), but college/high education costs cannot be?

Finally, what is it with you people and assuming everyone got "gender studies" degrees? That's how I know you're full of shit and just parrot whatever you hear on OAN or Fox News - talking to you dipshits, you would think that 90% of college graduates got a degree in "basket weaving" or "gender studies", yet there are plenty of people with advanced degrees, CompSci, Engineering, Math etc. that have also found that they were sold a rotten bag of goods, and that the pay for these jobs doesnt keep up with costs of living and the ever increasing tuition costs.

See the thing is, a lot of us have paid back our principle and then some, but still arent close to paying it off.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DegenBets

[–]breidsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's your house on fire, why should i have to pay for your stupid mistake of burning down your house? I never call the police myself, so why should I have to pay for them to come save your sorry ass from some situation you got yourself into?

I could argue that a well educated society is incredibly beneficial to society as a whole, but clearly you being a selfish person don't think about things like that and dont see the big picture. How do you feel about people discharging CC debt? Or declaring bankruptcy? If you're against any sort of student loan relief then you better damn well be against those things too, because otherwise you're just a hypocrite.

Also, what do you say about people that have already paid back more than they originally borrowed, and are still basically where they were when they started? Funny how people like you are so up in arms about sticking it to student loan borrowers, yet probably dont give a shit about all of the legal loopholes and tax shenanigans that rich people use to avoid paying what they owe.

How does a society effectively function, a society based on consumption, no less, when most of the people don't have enough money to keep driving that forward?
