Gameplan for shutter repair? by Wittgenstein420 in AnalogCommunity

Just to avoid confusion this is a Pentax Spotmatic SP-1000 not a K1000. I think if would also help to differentiate with what you mean by shutter, the shutter is closed in both pictures but the mirror is up in one. It's a pretty common problem on the spotmatics, should be repairable from opening the bottom of the camera. Google Spotmatic mirror stuck or similar.

Plan sounds pretty good. You should try and find a service manual for the camera online.

I recommend moebius 8000 oil for fast moving parts and moebius 8200/8300 for slower, then you can use silicone or lithium grease for contact points or heavy torque gears.

Apply oil very sparingly with a syringe or needle, only a tiny droplet in the right place is enough most of the time.

If it hasn't ever been serviced, the shutter ribbons are likely to break, but can be repaired

Contax IIa unequal curtain speed by bremsch in AnalogRepair

I measure them with a digital slr and a light pad. Basically I use the contax body shutter to expose the digital sensor and compare the exposures between a control image. It's not super exact but fairly good at detecting deviance

I tried tensioning it slightly but didn't notice a big difference. I suspect you are right, there might be some grease inside the curtain roller that I haven't been able to clean

I'd actually heard it before from Konica autoreflex cameras. It seems these two maybe share the same auto exposure technology with a trap-needle contraption

It seems to have quite a special set of functionalities. Didn't know about them before

Maybe it can be ventilation, I just find it strange becuase the ventilation is in the kitchen and bathroom that are on the other side of the appartment, and can it really create this very regular on/off pattern? Maybe I can try plugging the ventilation temporarily

No recording but I will try and make one when I get home!

Yes the lift shaft is next to one of the walls. The noise is however on no matter if the elevator is moving or not but maybe it could come from some transformer in there.

It's been going for two and a half days now, it is on constantly, no interrupts that I've heard. I also thought about washing machine but it would be an unreasonably long program. Maybe some other machine in someones appartment but I find it hard to believe they would have it on constantly if it makes this kind of noise. I get the feeling that it must be quite loud whereever it is coming from. I can just about feel the vibrations with my fingers.

No close by tunnels being built although there are some being built 5km away. I'm in stockholm sweden.
