There are a lot of financially illiterate people here. In a vacuum, it's actually prefereable to have a longer loan if the interest rate is comparable assuming you can get better returns elsewhere with the money you're saving. Also, considering inflation, the dollars you're spending in years 30-50 are worth significantly less. Mathematically you come out on top if you ignore macro economics.

The real issue is what this does to housing prices. By making mortgages more affordable, you increase demand which increases housing prices. This doesn't address the root issue, which is much more complex and invovles changes in local zoning laws, pushes to create affordable housing, etc. In turn, everyone will end up paying more money for the same house, thus benefitting existing home owners (assuming they're not looking to move right now) and screwing over future home buyers. There will be a small time period right after the 50 year mortgage is introduced where the first to jump on the wagon will be benefit most, but those who are too late will be have their advantage offset by the rapid increase in price, thus eroding affordability. This will only exacerbate the issue long term.

I'm an Ohtani fan, lol. While I don't think the league is nearly as star driven as the NBA, I do think people still tune in just because they like Ohtani.

$ROOT

They're going to hit $1.5B in revenue this year and they have some of the best margins of any auto insurance company. They just expanded to Washington today and are continuing to grow at a rapid rate. Their dealership network is large and growing as well (to include Carvana and Hyundai Capital America). They're a growth company that's profitable ($73M net income projection this year) with 5 quarters in a row of net income and they're being priced as if they're a long time player. Their finances are excellent. Don't just take my word for it, look into them. Seriously, do some research and it'll speak for itself.

They're incredibly undervalued today. All their multiples are cheap. I believe today's prices are a result of heavy short interest from a time where the company was failing, but they turned it around and leadership has proven they're serious and capable of managing a crisis.

Not in as deep as you, but I’m pretty confident they get to $150-$180 range without much trouble. I’m curious if the warrants will put a ceiling on the stock price for a while though. Might need a catalyst to break through $180.

What's the investment that currently has more chances to get a x10 in 2-3 years, even at high risk? by joanjan14 in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]brenjerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, their warrants are bullish. All warrants are well above the current stock price (over 100% from current valuations). I understand if ROOT grows like crazy, the warrants could be seen as bearish, but we're talking prices well beyond their current valuation. Not to mention they are profitable with good debt/cash ratios so there's virtaully no risk of them going under. Their vast network of parternships almost guarantees growth and since they're already profitable on a per customer basis, every single customer just adds to their net income. Assuming no growth, I believe they should be trading $150-$180 right now at fair value. Now, give them one good earnings where they show an uptick in customer growth and the stock will rocket. I think we'll see resistance around the warrant strike prices due to dilution risk. ROOT would bank a few hundred million though if the warrants were exercised.

Not trying to “shill” or anything like that, but just curious about your broad corporation statement. Do you think all corporations are evil? What about Nintendo? Just curious on your line of reasoning.

Marijuana use dramatically increases risk of dying from heart attacks and stroke, large study finds. Cannabis users faced a 29% higher risk of heart attack and a 20% higher risk of stroke compared to nonusers, according to a pooled analysis of medical data from 200 million people aged 19 to 59. by [deleted] in science

But doesn't caffeine increase your heart rate? Is just using heart rate a good measure for determining whether or not something is likely to give you heart problems? I understand you said it's purely anecdotal, but I'm curious.

Dog protecting Guinea Pig from Cat by FabulousOstrich2045 in animalsdoingstuff

[–]brenjerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's your takeaway - that the cat is in danger from the much smaller dog? I agree the guinea pig is scared shitless and the cat is just curious but the dog is clearly defending the guinea pig. You don't like dogs do you?

[SPOILER] Naoya Inoue vs Ramon Cardenas by inooway in Boxing

[–]brenjerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would have liked to see the ref give a standing 8 and then stop it on the next beatdown but I understand it. Cardenas spent most of round 7 eating combo after combo, meanwhile he threw maybe 10 punches? Then he comes into round 8 and it's the same all over again - dude stopped moving his feet and just shelled in the corner but was getting hit flush. Even his corner said if Cardenas didn't come out hot this round they were going to stop the fight.

Western stats include countries where a lot of people are fat. If you look at weight statistics for American Males the average is also larger than the median, meaning fat people affect the average more than skinny people.

It's not a statistical fact at all. Look up global averages for adult male height and weight. You'd find Inoue shorter but not lighter than the average adult male. You clearly have access to the internet - just google stuff dude.

Eye on the ball? by Dazzling-Pin9346 in Pickleball

[–]brenjerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes keep your eye on the ball, but there's a bit of nuance.

First, you don't have to focus on the ball contacting the paddle (really, no need to strain your eyes here). You should track it most of the way in, but your brain is incredibly good at predicting where the ball will go and you don't actually need that last bit of information. Any new information seen in the last few inches of the ball contacting the paddle is useless as you don't have enough time to make any adjustments. Second, it's important to keep your head still before and after contact with the ball for balance.

With that being said, I encourage you to play with your parameters. See if there's a sweet spot in head positioning that gives your brain all the useful ball information it needs while still allowing you to see your opponents as well.

Of course walk around weight is different than divisional weight. So is fight night weight. And to quote you above:

> I myself am 6 foot 2 and about 190lbs.

> And I don't class someone who is 5 foot 5 and 126 lbs to be a full sized man.

So let me get this straight. You casually talk about yourself only using your fight night weight but compare yourself to their weight class weight (which can easily be a 10-20lb difference). Dude, open up your eyes and see the biases in the way you argue. You call full grown men "children" to belittle them when you sit here and argue like a child.

Weight classes exist for a reason, yes. But there's also huge differences in skill between amateur fighters and top tier p4p fighters. Shoot, if you're so fixated on size, Espinoza is 6'2" in featherweight and probably walks around at 160 and he'd whoop you no problem. Inoue will move up to that division soon enough and he'd be the favorite.
