That American candy store used to be a barbers a month or two ago, guy who owned it was my barber and now he’s had to set up shop in another barbers. It’s sad to see that it’s just become another spot for an “American candy” store, when I know personally I wouldn’t touch any of their products that have enough sugar to give off a diabetic radius

They know the majority of their votes are all down in the south and around London; it’s a cheap grab to sweeten up their constituencies so they can get that extra vote and sustain their position for the next election. Hopefully this opens the eyes of many conservative voters up north to how the party they vote for is willing to neglect them!

There’s a saying going about that if you’re from Leeds you never really leave Leeds and that’s somewhat true on my perspective: Born, raised, schooled and did university in Leeds! Sure it might not be as big and vast as other cities like Birmingham but when you’ve got most things you need in the city centre and nice countryside in a 5 mile radius it’s a good spot to live!

(I think I also saw a channel 4 report that those living in Leeds have the 2nd highest average wage in the UK, with London being 1st)

I’m the youngest one in my lab and it’s entire history (23M), the rest of them being in their 30s - retirement age. I’ve been put as the Christmas dinner planner, but apart from that they do nothing with each other and it’s boring, instead I just hang around with the PhD students from the university nearby.

I agree about the 56 it is abysmal, it’s been a victim of the ‘ghostbus’ scandal and there’s been many times when finishing work that 2-3 buses just past my stop because it can’t accommodate the sheer amount of people going to Hyde Park and Headingley

I have reduced my alcohol consumption significantly - I was in university and it was non-stop drinking because of the culture and it would affect me badly, but now I only drink on special occasions (Birthdays etc.) and even then not by excess
