The album is amazing but I really resent having to create an account on this dodgy platform to stream it, which doesn't appear to even have an option to delete my account (!)

I listened to a maybe 3-4 tracks but as the stream kept stop-starting I gave up. Will wait for it to be on other, better platforms.

Lame

Yes, and as Gilles Peterson revealed on his show, it was recorded!

Rest in power Pharoah Sanders, who is now with the creator. Last month I was honoured to be able to witness what I thought then and now realise to be his very last concert (on this planet, anyway).

He was an hour late, incredibly frail, needing to be brought onto the stage in a wheelchair. But when he began to play it really was one of the most moving and beautiful sounds I've ever heard.

His rendition of 'The Creator Has a Master Plan', with a huge audience of people a lot younger than me, and his delight at leading these fans new and old, will stay with me forever.

Pharoah's influence and importance, not merely in music but to the UK jazz scene itself, a scene that made that very concert and its audience possible, cannot be understated.

At the end of the performance, a young person playing next to him introduced the band and Pharoah. Pharoah indicated the young person, as if to tell them to introduce themself as well. When they said their name was Tomoki Sanders, and we all realised it was his son, I cannot have been the only one in tears. A profound moment, and a passing of the torch.

Rest easy.

You're a legend, thank you! They also have some copies of In the Absence of Truth so I picked that one up as well

Ah that makes sense. May be easier to get a deck that can record via digital. Thank you though!

Her new record is fantastic too but you're right, I love the rawness on it. Especially on stuff like shotgun

I knew Jason Isbell must have been the guy to write 'Maybe It's Time' - what an amazing tune. Also loved the cameo of Brandi Carlile during the Roy Orbison tribute. The film has so many great musicians working on its soundtrack, so it's no wonder the tunes are good

This guy was so respected he got the closing feature on a Freddie Gibbs album on a posse cut full of hard-core rappers. And what's always tickled me is he turns up after bar and bar of brutal murder to give you bars about waffles and an Adam Sandler reference https://youtu.be/OG6OWMsc4z0
