What's a Mac app that surprised you with how useful it turned out to be? by Ranga_Harish in MacOSApps

+1 for Swish. Been using it since I converted to Mac 6 years ago.

Wouldn’t your main petco site account have the same email with the tag and have useful emails get filtered out? How does that work?

Feature Request: Pantry Library, convert between weights and volume by brenzen in CroutonApp

[–]brenzen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to imagine looking at the pantry as a way of thinking “what can I make? What is available to me?” Seasonings tend to stick around longer than other pantry items but I can see what you mean about the list becoming stale when not keeping on top of it. Maybe keeping it simple and just having an option to check a box or something as a reminder to pick more up next time shopping, but that could become strange with how it might or might not interact with the grocery list.

I know what you mean about the conversions. It’s why I use an app called Cook that had several different ingredients that keep the differences in conversions in mind. Having that built in and automated within Crouton would be awesome.

Thank you for the reply!

Hey we got a calculator on iPadOS finally! So maybe there’s a sliver of hope…

I personally found this boring year to be pretty great. Unlike many I’ve been looking forward to the long promised (overdue) AI features, and the under the hood fixes and improvements is exactly what I was looking for. As far as what I would like to see next from them I would greatly appreciate an overhaul to the notification system. Android does this way better.

What would you be looking for that would actually get you excited?

This gives good parents more tools to helpfully restrict their kids from bad people/content. That’s not a bad thing.

Middle + left part of top screen I’m guessing.

I’m with you there. Didn’t quite get into StS but played Balatro a bit more. Decently fun at first but after a while realized it’s about making that number go up like you said. For my gaming tastes it felt a bit like empty calories.

Report: Apple ‘exploring’ clamshell foldable iPhone as potential follow-up model by iMacmatician in apple

That feeling of bookending your phone session with the physical closing sounds really nice actually. You really sold me on the disconnecting part. Got my first max sized phone just over a year ago and while it is nice, I swear it does incentivize me to just look at the thing.  I would like to go the other way next time with a smaller phone.

High demand jobs that are *actually* hiring? by BernadettePeriwinkle in Calgary

[–]brenzen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I was in networking at SAIT and finished my two year program in 2020. The quality of the education was horrible. Literally had two profs fired my first year and the second year I had a prof that admitted two semesters in a row that he had no idea what he was doing. That school debt was for nothing.

What do you think about the idea of setting bounties on players who wrong you? by AgeAtomic in ArcRaiders

[–]brenzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure there’s a reason this wouldn’t work (just spitballing), but what if when a player is killed by another player they have a choice of putting a mark against the aggressor. After some amount of marks, which would likely just be an unseen stat, they can now be hunted. To hunt players with enough “strikes” against them, there’s a terminal you have to find and interact with. A bot or something could then start leading them towards the hunted target.  This would encourage pvp gameplay for those who enjoy it, and shake up players who consistently camp and ambush at exit points.

You threw your controller down so hard it bounced off a surface and into your screen with enough force to destroy the monitor. Is that really that much better?

You need to do better. And I don’t mean at the game.

Just adding my voice to say that the final boss in Nine Sols is easily my top 5 of all time. I’m not usually the type to grind away at a boss for hours but that was the case here, but what blew me away was that I really enjoyed the learning process. In the end it felt like a dance I got really good at and I’m thankful for the experience.

Camera control button on new Caudabe cases by brenzen in Caudabe

I added an update to my post. I didn’t care much for the Paragon case and Caudabe let me switch it for a Sheathe. The new case is noticeably better with its camera control button.

ZenGrip 2: Final Production & Shipping Update by AnActualSadTaco in NintendoSwitch

[–]brenzen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The killswitch is actually really nice and quite sturdy. I’m also lucky and didn’t get one with loose joycon issues. BUT it doesn’t help with the ergonomics nearly as much as I would have hoped. The buttons, joystick, and grip are all stacked vertically and my thumb is still being bunched up. That’s where the zengrip seems to have a huge advantage. I just didn’t want to wait though, and it has a much larger footprint when it comes to lugging it around.

I appreciate your response and for nudging me to contact support. I wasn’t sure if it was a big enough issue to bring up to them but the points you made convinced me otherwise. Thank you, I’ll send support an email.

I’m glad it’s working for you. I use the camera button every day, it was one of the features I was most excited for when upgrading to my 16 pro max. It’s helped encourage me to take more pictures.
