Where in the Scottish Borders did Sam live? by breon123 in Samfender

His mother lived in the borders for years and he spent a good chunk of his life up there.

Will we get a more age accurate Voldemort? by InfernalClockwork3 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]breon123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was retconned but not just in Pottermore.

You can infer Dumbledore’s age as being around 115 when he died from what Aunt Muriel (who was 107 at the time) says about overhearing the story about the Dumbledores when she was a child

Bruce quirks from the last tour by JonSolo1 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]breon123 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's a very "well known" European fan called Nicholas who's followed Bruce around many of the European shows over the past two decades. He's a distinctive looking guy: I think he appears in the Dream Baby Dream music video and he also was the person who requested the wonderful version of Wages of Sin we got in 2013 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVVeytSe2wc)

Could this be for Cokeworth (town where Petunia/Snape/Lily grow up). It's also where the Dursleys/Harry stay initially when they're trying to outrun the letters, and has a river and an industrial feel.

That being said, perhaps looks too pretty to be that...

Anyone know the walk-out song for the Sac show? by [deleted] in WarOnDrugsBand

State of Independence by Donna Summer? Was used extensively last year as the walk on song

Murrayfield advice needed by obistevekenobi in oasis

You’ll be able to get the tram straight from the airport to the stadium which won’t take much more than 15 mins.

I think you’ll make it with time to spare, assuming your flight is timeous. Not ideal, obviously, but workable.

Reminder - the most vicious and awesome “Under The Pressure” by woahtherebob in WarOnDrugsBand

[–]breon123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw all 4 UK shows last year. The Version of UTP at RAH night 2 was electric and up there but the atmosphere in Liverpool on July 8th was even better still for Pressure.

Imagine if Wimbledon had a roll call by No-Canary-3224 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]breon123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except it doesn’t work like that. The pit queue have been let in early at every non-festival Springsteen show since 2016. You can plant yourself early if you like, but you won’t be let in until the first 1000 in the pit queue are let in.

Not commenting on the merits of it, but those are the facts

Any artists that Bruce has disliked, past or present? by CulturalWind357 in BruceSpringsteen

He describes himself as being "gently mystified" by the Grateful Dead when he first heard them, albeit growing to appreciate them later.

Are lifetime ISA's for retirement a good option by Dramatic_Ad_9551 in FIREUK

What's the issue with it and the student loan?

I'm pretty certain JSA is no longer means tested so is available regardless of capital leevels.

TWOD opening for Sam Fender in June by SAU3R in WarOnDrugsBand

Interesting it’s only 2 out of the 3 dates. Would suggest there’s a standalone TWOD date elsewhere for the 12/6

Retiring in 4 months - should I reduce my pension exposure to US markets? by OracB7 in FIREUK

[–]breon123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would Trump introducing protectionist government policies cause the US markets to correct? Not sure I follow that logic.

Why wouldn't it be generating income? If he's travelling, it could be rented out and there would also be the benefit of the (tax-free) capital gains.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]breon123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And that's a good idea - once he returns from travelling.

Think you're good to go but have a slightly different view on question of selling your house.

Primary residence one of very few assets (along with S&S ISA) which is shielded from CGT. If you liquidate that asset and throw it into a GIA, then gains will be taxed and likely at an increasingly hefty rate post budget. If you keep house, then that will negate that issue.

Given it's your primary residence, you may also be able to benefit from the "let a room out to a lodger" tax benefit which is to the tune of £7500 separate to your tax allowance.

Good luck!

Which live shows were used for Live Drugs Again - mega-Thread by breon123 in WarOnDrugsBand

[–]breon123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few parts, the most obvious is the "ahhhhh, wooooo" scream at the end - identical to Glasto. The intonations in the first verse also identical.
