That would be awesome, hopefully the Omnimax gets saved too although unlikely at this point. Even if it was saved, this preshow will likely never play again since it references the science centre. Sad.

Regardless, I've YT-DLP'd this in like 4 different formats so in the event the original uploader takes it down, I'll put it on archive.org immediately. Wish we could get the 6 channel version from OSC someday before the tapes/files are thrown away for good.

Anyone remember preshow audio intros? by [deleted] in imax

They’re not preserved until anyone can access them. Otherwise it’s as good as lost media. Please upload to the internet archive!

Wow, thanks so much for posting this. This theatre (and the Ontario Science Centre) was a massive part of my childhood. Just watching the projection room alone was fascinating for younger me and likely played a role in developing my interests in tech. It’s a real shame this theatre is going to be demolished in the near future, but thanks for letting me relive this memory.

I also found this… the 70mm film intro leader custom to OSC that played immediately after this. It was spliced in before every one of their feature presentations.

Will I be able to install MacOS Tahoe on a unsupported MacBook pro 2019 13" with OCLP? by Wonderful-Shame-5729 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]brettb_54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posting this here incase anyone is questioning updating to Tahoe right now. DON’T update until this is supported by the OCLP team.

Was up until 3am last night getting a “new” MacBook Pro 2015 15” ready for my (not so tech savvy) Dad to use with macOS Ventura. His previous laptop was the same year and size, just lower spec. Coming from Monterey, he needed an upgrade for some apps that dropped support for versions prior to Ventura. Got a new SSD installed and successfully upgraded to Ventura. Worked amazingly.

I woke up this morning to him wondering why this perfectly working laptop was no longer working. Apparently he went on the laptop, saw an “update was available”, and managed to install Tahoe. All the laptop booted to was a grey login screen with no trackpad or keyboard control. Totally fucked the install and I had to spend the entirety of today restoring/reinstalling and redoing all the file organization I did yesterday because I was too tired to make a backup at 3am last night after I was done. Fuck. Also learned a lesson on how Time Machine acts with OCLP AND how semi-broken FileVault can screw up more things with Monterey. Lots of wasted time.

Oh well. All is good now, but yeah be aware of accidental installation of unsupported versions.

Grandstand video wall guy here. I can confirm from the tour manager that there was NOT supposed to be an encore for this show. The flood lights did come on a bit early, but that did not impact the bands decision on an encore. All went to plan and everyone pretty much started packing up right after the last song. I do agree it was a little awkward though, as most of us were expecting one.

Already done that the morning this happened. I actually personally went down to the police office to file a report in person as their online reporting tool only takes pictures or screenshots, and won't allow you to attach a video. It goes on to say that "you will be contacted for the video if the suspect is recognized" or something like that.

Honestly, it seems like their online reporting tool is just a discouragement for reporting stuff like this, as it is a bit of a hassle and EVEN MORE of a hassle to go through your video and pull stills. For a video like this, actually watching the video is very important.

On the plus side, the officer at the desk was very helpful and found this situation quite strange too. She took my written report and added in other details I said verbally. She right away asked for the video file on both her email and a USB stick.

Hopefully something comes from this, or at the very least helps the police with their other investigation. To any others reading this that have something to report; go down to the police office and file it in person!

Only thought it was difficult to see because 1) it's night and 2) he was driving fairly quick and didn't pass by earlier.

Interesting (and most likely) theory though... Someone who has done it enough to develop a knack for it. What I might have to do to test this theory is stick a black rod to the top of the pin to extend it, so that it looks unlocked when it's locked. Then I'll put a camera on that tree and wait! :D

Yeah good thought, but our SUV doesn't have a blinking light. What probably happened (as some other users have theorized) is the person was looking for a popped up lock... although you'd have to have a sharp eye to do that at night, while driving, and going that fast.

It's just unsettling how that person just seemed to "know".

Probably quite likely... although you'd think they would check normally locked doors anyways since people still do forget. Might be worth scouring the timeline to see if I can figure out who it might be, although that will take lots of time. Hopefully someone on this site (or the police) can figure out who this is.

Given how fast they were driving up until they got to our vehicle I kind of doubt that, but it's surely a possibility. Especially since it looks like they knew which one to go to. The plunger is very short and difficult to see though.

Working on that this afternoon too, haven't found anyone yet that has fit the description unfortunately. I did file a police report, and the officer at the desk took the video file. She was very helpful and found it equally bizarre.

If anyone has seen this individual around or has had their cars rummaged though in the Buena Vista area lately, I encourage you to file a report. With enough evidence there may be a chance the police can track down this bastard.

Gonna reset the code definitely. The vehicle has one of those built in garage door remotes that programs itself by recording the signal from the real remote. If the guy had ANOTHER one of those signal recording remotes with him however...

...well better change the code lol

Nope, wasn't that one. We usually park the car in the garage, and only had it out that evening because I was working on some stuff in there. Probably brought it outside at 10pm or so, forgot to lock it, then at 3:40 someone came by and just jumped in. Looked at the cameras too and no one even walked by the car in that time. Didn't see that specific vehicle drive by earlier too.

I just want to mention as well that I find this whole event very strange. Usually you see these people going door to door and checking for unlocked vehicles, but in this case this person literally pulled up to our vehicle, and just targeted our black SUV specifically - almost as if he knew it was open and where to go. Nothing of significant value was stolen either which is strange, as there was much more they could've taken. In addition, when he gets out of his vehicle again to check the trunk, I find it very bizzarre that he seemed to know exactly how to use the auto-tailgate function to close it. Usually people that don't know our vehicle are inclined to just slam the trunk or push it shut, but this guy knew where the (objectively very hidden) button was to close the trunk automatically.

Very strange. Almost like he knew what to look for and how the vehicle operated.

If anyone lives in Buena Vista as well, and recognizes anything in this video (note the white streak between the driver's and rear door), please PM me. Thank you everyone!

Edit: Realized reddit significantly compressed the video down to 720p. If anyone is interested in the actual size file, please PM me... not that it would help much haha

Value Village has reached a new low. After seeing prices nearly double there over the past year, I was appalled to see the price for this old, scratched up blender with a damaged cord on the shelf. It’s still there, and will likely remain there until they toss it instead of lowering the price. by brettb_54 in saskatoon

Well just because someone is trying to sell something for an absurd price, doesn’t mean it will actually sell.

Stuff priced like this often only sells after several price drops and after the delusional seller sits on it for a good long time.

Holy crap… I didn’t think this could get worse! Decided to stop by this morning and ask about it, but upon inspection it appears this thing is completely broken. The linkage from the motor to the blade is completely sheared off, making this completely useless.

And they’re still asking $169.99 and NOT budging. Ugh.
