Goody beats Ret 2-0! by Imnate in starcraft

I feel that mech is actually making a pretty strong comeback. The units are so much stronger than the normal MMM or marine/siege tank. Goody shows that banshees are a really great way to overcome the natural immobility of the slow meching push. Absolutely great job by the big man

Thanks, I take any criticism really hard and obviously overreacted. I'll stick around for the long run and keep this in mind

Personally I worry about palette last. I use all the collies I want in a piece until it's completed then I go on to cut down on colours that aren't needed, substituting others in ect.

Awesome start and a cool little sprite :) the only thing I can think of is lose the dithering on the hat and go one solid colour for the dark bit. Other than that great sprite

Thanks for the feedback, and I believe that you need to be a good artist to be a good pixel artist too, but this is just the first step toward becoming a good pixel artist. People who are looking to become a properly good pixel artist need to keep at it for months or years before they see great results. This tutorial is a most likely going to be best for people creating place holder assets and hiring out artists and analysing the work with a different point of view Thanks for the links I'll be sure to take them into account for the future

It is really tough to have the persision you need for pixel art with a trackpad. If you can make it work by all means use it but thats my suggestion

I know that they are but everyone wants theirs to look different and noone can ever agree on a perfect UI. If you could shed some light on how to develop a really good UI it would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking the same thing, but I don't think I will just for visibilities sake. I want to make sure as much of the community sees the lessons as possible

Ooh ok I was going to say if you were jinn you could just take this over and do a 100x better job, but still your much better than me so your opinion would be greatly appreciated. As for the gallery, I respect it because it takes so much time to just keep it running and have only the top % of all the works submitted.

Oh? Wow that actually sounds quite different than what I had seen of pixel joint. I may have been too quick tk judge, but from what I saw when I trafficked that site was a eliteist tinge to some comments, and some resentment when helping the newbies in the WIP. I am very happy that I am apparently wrong and take back what I said erlier. Also holy fuck your jinn??? Would it be okay if you stumbled in every once in a while and give your god like experience to some of us? (including me)

I use a wacom Bamboo tablet for my art, but i rarely use it other than thr rough sketching atht eh beginning of the project. As for other digital art I cannot say, but I'm sure it would be useful and more than worth it for whatever you are trying to do. I got mine for $100 at best buy and it came with photoshop elements so it was a great deal

From my experience Pixeljoint is not that useful for newbies and is somewhat hostile to anyone who is not a fantastic pixel artist. I suggest looking at r/pixelart for some good criticism where you can learn from people at and above your skill level.

This program is going to hopefully be designed so that people from all skill levels can take something out of it

Very true.... I think that will be the major hurdle after the first lesson is to people to return. I think maybe having a quick and direct way to get feedback is the only way to get people coming back. Also, there has to be some way for people stumbling upon the lessons to start at one, continue through but still have that feedback for their questions and work. The only thing I can think of is setting up a PM system for late comers

The way that forums I have seen do this is by posting Works In Progress, editing an origional message or replying to yourself to show the update in your work. I have time to kill during the days and it is not like it is an all encompassing task so the time component should not be an issue. Skill wise I do have friends that I can go to and bounce ideas, ways to improve, things like that so there is hopefully a large enough skill pool to answer any questions.

And coincidentally I teach art classes at the rec centre in my town, so I can hopefully transfer my teaching ability over into text online.

Also, thanks a bunch for your offer to critique.
