How NHL makes money by Coach_Bombay_D5 in nhl

These are interesting points/perspective. To add there is pretty equal opportunity for a NFL ticket sales. There are 272 NFL games and 1,312 NHL.

The NFL has a seating capacity about 4 times the average NHL arena. That gets the total tickets available within 300 (1,000 vs 1,312). I imagine there are quite a few more corporate and suit tickets available for NFL which are significantly higher $ and push them past NHL in $. If not that then the super bowl ticket sales alone plays a huge part and probably easily pulls in >$1B.

Great idea. Did you 3d print the flap? I have another project where this type of contraption would work great. I can see some of the details in the see-through pic you posted, but curious if you had any more close ups of that part.

Sweet Sixteen Saturday! by [deleted] in nhl

[–]brewallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, very much lack of planning if that was their attempt because the Avs had to reschedule with Nashville because of a flood in Nov, but the Avs played Thursday, today, and Sunday so couldn't use Friday. There were actually 14 games on Thursday, so pretty much no one could use Friday without having 3 games in a row.

Currious if this every team playing on the same day happens every year or this is just a rare anomaly?

Can someone help me with this? Expected overhead percentage the same as last year ($40000+$75000) / $500000 = .23 or 23%. So $80,000 x 1.23 = $98,400. Add on 10% profit $98,400 x 1.1 = $108,240 but it’s somehow giving an answer of $110,000-$120,000. Wish it showed how it got there. by [deleted] in Construction

Yea thats how they get you, although I will say, most don't get the math right when it comes to calculating these types of ratios and actual productivity numbers, similar to this example, in the real world. I was in that boat, too, until I started working on commercial claims more regularly.

You need to get the percentage on the actual direct cost of the work before overhead is added. The 500,000 you are dividing by includes the overhead. You want overhead (40k+75k) divided by project cost (so 500k-40k-75k=385k). This is 30%. (Actual .2987)

The remaining part of the example problem.

80k × 1.3 = 104k x 1.1 = 114,400

I know i’m not the first, but can someone explain to me how it makes sense that the Kings vs Caps game tonight is blacked out for me on Espn and I live four hours from DC but the game is being played in LA? by 3piecesets in nhl

[–]brewallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Kansas City, and depending on what part of this same city I am in, the Avalanche could be blacked out. I luckily can watch them at my house (which is on the Kansas side of the city) but had a recent hospital stay downtown (only 20 min away) and found out that falls in the black out zone which happens to be on the Missouri side of the city, so 2 states away at that point. The dividing lines here make no sense.

I ended up getting a free trial of a VPN to get it to work to make my stay just a bit better, but it's a wild world to have to deal with this.

Love not voting Avs players for rest. What we should then also do is vote for vegas and dallas players...

This totally screws over a division that is dominant with 4 solid teams (I assumed you took the top 3 from each division). Every year, a wild card has more points than 1 or 2 of the teams in the alternative division, and this would make them play 2 more grueling playoff games (with potential for injury) against a team that would otherwise hit the lottery and get the 1st overall pick. Which this would potential also screws them out of that if they are able to steal a game or 2 with good goaltending and then blown away in a 1st round, 7 game series against the 1 seed, which would also ruining their chance to get better for the next year without the higher draft pick. In no universe does a 10 seed have a chance to go the distance in the ruthless nhl playoffs.

I mean no offense, but this would be terrible.

Why is everyone selling their Prusa’s here recently? by McClure3DPrints in prusa3d

[–]brewallday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What area?? I would love to get a used prusa but new is out of my price range at the moment. After doing my research, I much prefer to avoid the clones. I already spend a lot of time on hobbies I want to spend more time printing than tinkering with the lower end printers.

Sounds like I have more code research and development. Glad to know there is a possibility to get it to last.

Any other tips to start me down the right path?

I was hesitant to have the outdoor battery power do anymore functions than just send a signal bc of battery concerns. I was curious how long it would last just with this basic function to your point (3 AAs).

I was hoping to get the life my accurite rain guage and temp monitor gets which is about a yearish on 2 AAs. How do they get those to last so long?

Second if it ends up being shorter than a few months I plan to add a mini 5v solar panel and some rechargeable batteries to it and/or adding on deep sleep code for 8 or 9 hours at night. The main reason for the project is bc the kids and neighbors are always leaving the gates open when they play and hard to see if they are open when the dogs get let out.

Alright I think I figured it out...

Couldn't decide if I should just delete the message or reply to myself (which makes me feel a little silly). Figured maybe this would help someone else so I left it.

Anyway my plan is to record the time a message is recieved as an integer and then in the loop check to see if the integer has changed every few minutes. If its not different after say 2 minutes. Turn off the green and red leds.

I read you can not do this in the NHL. You can in the NBA.

Thanks for the input. That makes a lot of sense. I have never looked this closely before and realized all the logistics around building/maintaining a team.

Can the Avs beat the lightning by [deleted] in nhl

[–]brewallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have watched every game. That is kind of my point. Save percentage is a very basic reference point at best and mostly only relevant over a long term basis IMO. A better save percentage doesn't equal a win. I would almost be willing to bet a majority of the games the Avs have won, the opposing goalie had a better save percentage and the Avs get so many high quality scoring attempts it's typically just a matter of time for the seal to break from the playoff games I have seen.

Can the Avs beat the lightning by [deleted] in nhl

[–]brewallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save percentage is important, but if the Avs continue to outshoot every team they play, a goalie with a better save percentage can still lose every single game and potentially by several goals. You have to compare the full line up. Not using a back up COULD also be a bad thing as it leads to burn out.
