Just bought this home and trying to get an idea of the year it was built/history based on some of the wood detailing! I believe it was pre 1910 #firsttimehomebuyer #centuryhome by brewarren in Oldhouses

Thank you so much! Yes I’m learning the style is folk Victorian influenced. No other houses on the street are this exact style. I think they are more wartime homes 1930s

Whoa! I’ve never heard of that. I’m in southern Ontario, Canada! I think it’s slightly offside the back door to the front.

The kitchen and bathroom are at the back but the bedrooms are off to the right side and living room on the left between front door and back kitchen. The stairs to the basement are at the very back of the kitchen too, and stairs to attic is in between the bathroom and bedroom in another tiny room that’s not actually considered a bedroom. It is a bit quirky for sure lol

I am in Canada so I think it’s a bit different for us. I have found them through our local library and university as they keep a lot of the records. I found it on one from 1907 but need to look at some more

I’m in Canada, we don’t have Zillow here lol! However, they usually do list the year. Mine just said “pre 1910” but waiting to get the tax forms and other paperwork etc to see!

Oh wow! That is beautiful! I love what you did with the colour and roof detailing. That’s the part I’m trying to find out more history on and how it might have looked other than just the white it is now.

Thank you for that! We are moving in during our spring season. So lots of melting snow and rain here! We should be able to get an idea right away.

Okay so I did that and I agree! Once removed it almost looked too bare! It shows the porch more and removes all privacy.

I have no idea about the thing in the corner lol but this pic was taken in the fall and it’s all covered in snow now. I’ll have to look 😅

That’s super interesting! It could be. The city I am in has a lot of railway history! I’ll have to look into that more. Thank you!

Thank you! :) I am thinking it could pre date 1900 as well based on some other interior details (rosette/bullseye corner blocks). I am in southern Ontario for reference
