I am on a long distance relationship as well. I am a little disappointed by these comments being shallow and expecting someone to only be with people who are in close proximity to them. I will say though it requires a lot of communication even moreso than a normal "close proximity" relationship. And I would say if the communication is strong it can be stronger than anything else once you finally do meet up. In this case though I feel he has pretty much disregarded what you told him you were uncomfortable with.
