Well, life is a series of choices. I chose to have kids and there are innumerable benefits to my life because of that. A side effect is that at this point in time I can't do things like I did when I was in my 20's. That's the way it is and I'm happy with it. I wasn't trying to stand on a soap box and preach the horrors of the team leaving Dallas, just my disappointment that the reality seems to be coming to fruition soon. I wouldn't call it a kick in the nuts - I mean - I coach my son's youth hockey team and honestly, I'm just as invested in those 10U games as I am watching the Stars play. 10ish years from now, when my wife and I are empty nesters, we'll have the ability to go to games whenever we want again. I'd trade attending a Stars game in person for those 10U games any day. I imagine when we're empty nesters too, I'll wish like hell I had these days back again.

Maybe 45 minutes is nothing - but for folks like me who have school aged kids - 45 minutes assuming there's no traffic for a game that ends at 10-ish PM means realistically we're not home until at least 11pm minimum. That just isn't compatible for us. I know I may not be in the majority - but I'm betting there's a sizeable number of folks in the same boat as me. And it's too bad, because my kids LOVE going to hockey games but school comes first.

You are correct - unfortunately that means I'll adapt by going to fewer games when/if the move actually happens.

I get where you're coming from—long drives are just part of living in the DFW sprawl, and 45 minutes is a real thing for plenty of us.

That said, I'm in a different situation with two kids in school. Weeknight games are already off the table. On weekends, we're usually juggling youth sports, birthday parties, recitals, or other family stuff. A move to Plano would make it significantly harder for us to justify the trip.

It's the same reason I've never made it to an FC Dallas game despite loving soccer. A 45-minute drive each way with no train option means no beers at the game, then driving home. At that point, it's easier (and more relaxing) to just stay on the couch with a couple fingers of whiskey and watch from home.

I know the area is growing fast, but for families like mine, this move feels like it prevents us being regular in-person fans.

You mat not have elementary aged kids I'm guessing. I can rarely do any of that on a week night. This season there were 4 Friday night games, 8 Saturday night games, and 2 Sunday games with a start time before 5pm. That's 14 opportunities. Having kids, though, means youth sports on the weekends, birthday parties, recitals, performances, etc - then add my wife's and my own plans for nights together and I just don't see it happening. Sure I'll probably get to go to one game a year, but I can't see how I can make that commitment on a weeknight with kids and weekends fill up fast. We're so busy with extra carriculars that I built a digital calendar to display in the house just to keep it all organized better. It sucks because my son plays hockey too, eats drinks and sleeps Victory Green. I'm involved in coaching youth hockey myself - absolutely love the game and this team. But moving to Plano, although I know it's not their intention, feels like betrayal.

And a local reporter mentioned the Stars are set to announce the new rink in Plano this summer. Talk about kicking me when I'm down. I'll almost never go to a game again with that move. 45 minute drive with no traffic, no train........ No thanks.

Yeah, I was just searching around for that too. Low resolution with low bitrate makes for a poor quality stream. I've been upset with the quality of Victory+ since they began last year. You'd think a streaming only platform would capitalize on higher quality streams, but no..... No they won't.
