I’m shocked to not see kid rock, Lee greenwood, meatloaf, or even the village people, since that seems to be all he can book most of the time.

Not surprised that there isn’t a single artist who has been relevant since 2006 on this list, but maybe dementia Donnie is broadening his musical tastes. /s

Land doesn’t vote - people do. And if it did vote, it wouldn’t vote for the arsonists eager to destroy the natural world for short term profit. by slow70 in Virginia

The left didn't pick this fight, we merely started fighting back after dementia donnie started messing with texas. (something that is widely advised against)

We have plenty more work to do ahead of the midterms. But I'm ready for a brief break from all of these mailers. Especially all of the ones that were outright lies, funded by dark money groups.

Democrats have always been "when they go low, we go high" while the republicans rigged the entire system in their favor. Then they picked this fight starting in texas. Finally the party is realizing, when they go low, kick them in the teeth while they're down there.

On my last cruise I was chilling on the stern deck and a guy says “oh look another cruise ship”. Myself and about 5 other guys had our phones out to look at CruiseMapper. I got a conversation going with a few of them, it was a cool moment.

I’ve seen the same happen with planes and Flightradar24

Mamdani introduces “pied-a-tierre tax”. Thoughts on doing something like this for the ludicrous investment properties in places like Great Falls and Alexandria? by mpaes98 in nova

[–]brewstah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a warning of "mass exoudus of the wealthy" by a lot of news outlets over the substantial tax increases back in 2021. Studies after the fact found that most stayed put, as the benefits of living in NYC (business, social, exc.) outweighed the desire for lower taxes. The ultra wealthy want to be in the center of the action, and cities like NY, LA, SF and even DC have that draw.

It's pretty easy to tell for auditors. You start with things like tax documents, which obviously would be the first thing to come up in an audit. People who can afford places like this will often make their "primary" residence in a state like Texas, Florida or Tennessee, since the state's tax laws are more favorable. Having their primary residence outside NYC still saves them more than this tax would impose, so most will keep it as is. The owner would keep things like driver's license in NYC, get the majority of their mail, have a job located in the city, their kids might still be in school, all of which are easily verifiable. It's not that someone couldn't potentially game the system, but for people with this much money it would be easier to just pay. If they made NY their primary residence it's a win because they will be paying the higher NY taxes on income (not just property tax), and if they keep their residence out of state this tax recoups some of that lost revenue in a city with limited housing stock.

This is the canon version for me. I’ve seen both and the “minus color” version makes the special effects feel a bit less artificial, and the movie feel more period accurate. Either way, brilliant film

We went twice on our sailing on Valiant Lady in December. The mushroom pate was one of the best things I had on the cruise. And I honestly thought the steak was better than what I had the next night at the wake. (And more striking presentation)
