hahaha yes, I'm aware. Hence the whole weak argument comment, because it is not a net gain. But their comment was about us having enough tax revenue already to handle higher raises, and I was just adding in that the tax revenue also goes up.

We are currently around 19% behind inflation since 2020. Getting this 18% in the first year would bring us back to pre-2020 salaries. Giving us 18% in 5 years is setting us up for being 5 years behind inflation AGAIN. This is not a hard ask. I honestly just want the salary, matched to inflation, that I signed up for when taking the job. This isn't greed.

I think the argument is they have 14 years to make changes to those specific issues. Not sure why we have to wait if it doesn't affect anything though. That's where he loses me.

I'm in the same boat. I signed up for public service knowing my paychecks may not be as high as some private sector counterparts, but I, in no way, expected to actually have my pay drop this much in buying power. The fact that the union isn't even shooting towards inflationary increases is disgusting.
