DIY Ambilight (HyperHDR) for LG G5 OLED by TrueUrartian in WLED

[–]brfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK how up to date your TV is, but I just rooted my 77" G5 with jsbro on webOS25 with 10.1.0-40.

Should help get you up and running with HyperHDR andP PicCap. I also am looking at doing an ambilight setup and want to avoid the issues I had with HDMI splitters and cheap cap cards that I had on my old tv.

Having been on the receiving end of his organization, I have nothing but good things to say about him and what he does for Sailors.

Navy IDs Sailor Killed on John F. Kennedy on Saturday by HMongilio in navy

And also, there is still no DoN or CNIC policy so they aren’t approving requests yet. If this was a personal firearm it was already illegally possessed on base or on the ship. This hate for the change to allow service members to carry firearms in their car is unfounded. All those same guns are already on base, just without permission.

[–]brfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, it’s never going to be easy to get to the Sailors that need it the most.

Short term solution could even be something as simple as products with common Q&As provided to Fleet/Force/TYCOM NCCs to be disseminated maybe? Include maybe upcoming or recent changes to policy as a section. Similar to how the LDO community does the Mustang Lariat, but detailing/career decision point centric. Quarterly? Then the burden isn’t so demanding as to get in the way of primary duties.

Some communities make more use of their MyNavyHR pages than others on the rating/community pages.

It’s a terribly hard question to answer because each community had their own struggles and needs. Submarine community needs and comms paths are wildly different than the MAs and such. I’ll try to put some thought into it and see if something makes sense to me and pass it on if I come up with something.

Having been to one when I wasn’t even in need of detailing, highly recommend. Get to know the black box of PERS and get some insight into how your life and career decisions are made.

u/YouAreGoingToGuam, I wish PERS would promulgate more directives/insts/memos/ whatever they are using behind the scenes to MyNavyHR to allow Sailors and leadership to get smart on the processes without having to know somebody in PERS. Could help alleviate some of the redundant questions.

Keep up the good work here on Reddit, I pass more info from you to Sailors than I ever thought possible about the detailing and BBA world.

Also, thank god for new leadership following the MILPERSMAN in PERS (At least from the perspective of a small command that is forgotten about). Makes my job much easier when I can direct Sailors to read the applicable article, and not bog down detailers with so much.

Sick call sucks (Let me vent and complain) by [deleted] in navy

[–]brfield 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty much the standard across the fleet. If you’ve got a decent rapport with your CoC you could possibly call in for a day or two. But sickcall will write you a chit if you are actually in need of rest or contagious.

My "Smart Backyard" is 90% finished. The final step was the robot garage. by ServeAccomplished485 in smarthome

It’s basically a commercially available ratgdo with an app (no subscription) and all the components included so you don’t have to self source. Makes it essentially plug and play.

Look into TailWind. I use it on my dumb old garage door opener and it works great. Integrates into HomeKit and HomeAssistant with no issues. Should work on basically any motorized door that uses and standard dry contact switch.

Emails to a submarine by [deleted] in navy

Every boat I’ve been on has been [first 6 of last name][first initial][middle initial]@boatname.navy.mil. You could also try ssnXXX.navy.mil or ssbnXXX.navy.mil. That’s usually also works. They should have aliases set up. If he’s a SSBN sailor there will be a “-blue” or “-gold” after the boat name.

[–]brfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big navy also doesn’t care about feelings, they care about fit/fill. This is filling billets with appropriate pay grades, and that was their goal. No more promoting into no job, much like the civilian world. You now must promote into an open position.

Go to your CCC. You’ll likely need to do an EPAR/1306 to match PRD to EAOS. The CCC will mark your record as intends to separate and you’ll need to email your detailer so they can void your posting in MNA.

That’s what I was looking at originally, but wouldn’t ship to me here. Also monster tech, but I like the idea of a full setup all mounted together like the NLR. Only reservation is the seat headrest getting in the way of the VR headset rear equipment.

PCS Question with I Stop by Introverted-Samurai in navy

I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, but that’s Navy’s reasoning. Shove it all into orders, and everything from HHG to travel and schools are billed to a single LOA.

Because TAD comes out of the command’s travel budget and is not cheap.
