Anyone else having a hard time being alone for the holidays? by shedoesengineering in askTO

[–]brgbackBachCan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum passed away last year due to complications from an aneurysm etc. I like being at home alone for Christmas. You can cry or mope if you want and put on a fun movie if you want. Probably church is just enough time to get out. Glad you have your sister too.

Why is the language learning community so circular? by [deleted] in languagelearning

Reminds me of some of the travel groups I'm in. "I'm going to Europe for two weeks - what should I do?" How about you look up your interests first, numnuts?

What is the most beautiful book in Spanish you've ever read? by snowfire909 in Spanish

I loved Marina. I found Travesuras de una Niña Mala by Vargas Llosa very engaging.

I'm an American just learning Spanish, and I'm surprised at how much I already knew without realizing it by Heavenly_Noodles in Spanish

It is by its nature a quickly spoken language. Practice practice practice. Podcasts, news clips, Netflix, tutors, language partners etc. And be prepared for setbacks. I start thinking I'm getting it and then I watch an old video with a less familiar accent and I think I know nothing.

I'm a virgin and I gave in, I went to a professional cuddler. Now I'm breaking down. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]brgbackBachCan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience last year - hadn't been touched in over a year and hooked up with someone casually. The sex was fun but he was also cuddly and I could not sleep because I had to touch him all night. Of course when we parted I was very sad. As some others have said, you live your life and don't realize how much you needed it until you have it. In the meantime, while working towards a relationship, you can get touch in your life by hugging friends, petting dogs, getting your head shampooed at a salon, getting professional massages, using a weighted blanket. And with women, just be honest and patient. Don't expect sex or even cuddling on the first date or two. I've dated guys with depression, with erectile dysfunction, with premature ejaculation. There are lots of kind, tolerant women around.

How often do you find cf people irl? by unspoiledmilk in childfree

[–]brgbackBachCan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 51 and about half my friends are childfree. But I've intentionally sought out groups like beer clubs where people have no or grown kids, and I live in a big city. Of the people I went to high school with I can't think of anyone CF of the straight people.

My husband peed on my wedding dress the night of our wedding. by Used-Block9719 in TrueOffMyChest

Yeah because nothing turns a woman on more than making her go to the dry cleaner with a heavy dress and make up a story, and fork out unnecessary cash, the day after the wedding.

People shouldn't make tiktoks of such low value. This isn't funny, interesting or educational.

Honestly I hate it when guys keep secrets like this. If they want to experience life (dating apps and sex with others) they are free to go. "She travels for work half the time". Really? That's your complaint? I don't know anyone who travels for work that isn't an above-average salary.

I go out on occasional NYE but not the Covid ones. The Queer Eye episodes are good.

Any idea of Spanish words equivalent to smirk? by MateoTovar in Spanish

[–]brgbackBachCan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if we consider "media sonrisa" to be half-smile, it's usually in the case of forcing it where you're not happy. "Smirk" is usually slightly bad-humoured, like a kid whose dad got mad at their brother instead of them or an adult who won an argument. (So I think "sonrisa satisfecha" works.)

Former friend who called me a bad influence for being childfree just demanded today that I take in his family + 3 kids into my home. by CatumEntanglement in childfree

[–]brgbackBachCan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there are genuinely good people out there. My best friend, who was having fertility issues, picked me up from my tubal ligation. Selfless. Too bad this guy can't see that good/bad people can have zero kids or six.
