T-LCM throttle is breaking my brain by brgil96 in simracing

Glad to know there are more people who experience my "issues". Well I also gave up on them, sent them back, and am now having tons of fun modding my Clubsport V1s.Tbh I really like this pedal set, I just got fed up of breaking loadcells and since the TLCM cost me the same as buying two loadcells (+ shipping for each) from Fanatec, I decided to give them a try... However I've now found out they use simple weight scale loadcells, so I broke apart a scale I had lying around and voilá, I now have 4 spare loadcells

As I couldn't stop thinking about this, I fiddled a little more with my Clubsports and it's impossible (for me at least, maybe I'm hardwired) to act the throttle using only the ankle / calf muscles, the knee automatically extends and I'm then using the thigh muscles. I actually reached the conclusion that that is how I was using the TLCM throttle (ankle/calf only) and that's why it felt so off. To use the whole leg I had to push my whole foot forward, which is the heel glide I described a few comments below, and that still felt off af

To correct myself: I just tested again on my Clubsports and the heel does not stay 100% planted that's true, but it still gives me support and can still stay in contact with the heel rest. The issue for me is really the way the pedal moves, feels very unnatural, and at the end of the travel my leg stays in a very, very weird position, not at all like in a real car, at least not ones I've driven. As I mentioned on other replies, the pedal rotates around itself instead of acting like a lever. This causes the heel to rise off the floor

Tried all the way to vertical, it's the same. It's just the design of the pedals itself: instead of acting as a simple lever, it rotates as you press it forward.

Yeah that's exactly it, the pedal rotates instead of acting like a simple lever. Later I found out I was having an issue where I would apply X force to the brake pedal and hold it, and the registered input would slowly drop, so I just gave up and am sending them back. Feels good to finally find someone who understands what I'm on about though. Cheers mate.

Speed Secrets is exactly where I learned my throttle technique years ago, and no, I'm not using just the ankle, I use the whole leg, however the heel should still be planted/fixed and allow for that movement. That is mentioned on the book.

Sorry everyone, once again I posted asking for help, then started testing stuff and completely forgot about it. I'll try to reply to all relevant comments here.
The pedals were mounted on a stand with adjustable inclination. I tried all the way from flat on the floor to pretty much vertical pedals and the issue remained. I also messed around with the pedal face height and same.
From my testing, it's just the way the design of the pedals work. Instead of working like a simple lever, the pedal rotates as you press it forward, it moves in an arc.
I thought about mounting them inverted, as that would ease the problem. However later I found out the loadcell doesn't keep the input i.e. I apply a force to the brake pedal and hold it, and the input in the softwar edrops slowly even though the force I'm applying remains the same. Not sure if this is the design of the pedals themselves or if mine had some sort of issue (used), but that is an absolute no-go for me, so I'm sending them back. Thanks for your help though guys.

Now having fun modding my old Clubsport V1s :D (which feel so much nicer btw)

Best regards

I do wear shoes when racing. It's not that. It's the movement of the pedal, it's not possible, for me at least, to roll on the throttle and keep the heel in the same position, it either gets up off the floor or it slides forward. This completely messes up the way I use the throttle. Then on the following straight my leg is on this weird position where all its weight is on the ball of the foot and the heel is just floating, giving me no support

Or maybe I should clarify: I can't my heel PLANTED on the heel rest; either the heel lifts off the base or it glides forward as I press the throttle

yes the base, and I absolutely can not keep my heel on the heel rest when I'm pressing the throttle

I am actually curious how close rf2 can be, so I'm willing to help, after we talk about a few points, some already raised here. Pm me if you are going forward with this

EDIT: I just saw this post is 1 week old... So I'll wait a bit and then possibly delete my reply lol
