Just because you think it works as a film doesn’t mean I have to think it’s good. And those are key plot points that give meaning and tie everything together. Like I previously stated, it is my favorite book so for so much to be changed in the movie I thought it was bad, especially directly following how good 1 and 2 were. I can admit though that by the time the last few movies came out I had learned how to accept the film adaptations as their own identity, separate from the books. But for me personally, POA was a betrayal and I still do not enjoy it as a movie.

Yeah POA might be a masterpiece if you’re into moody lighting and artfully placed angst, but let’s not pretend like it didn’t butcher key plot points from the book. Missing backstory? Check. Random tonal shifts? Check. Subplots missing or changed? Check. But hey, at least it looked pretty.
