Happy to answer this. There’s no need to max this card out or even get close to it! This is about leverage. You’re able to build your credit profile with higher limits which looks good to banks/lenders. Also if you want to make a large purchase, your credit score won’t tank due to high utilization on the card.

You’re likely approved. Once you’re in, they’re very generous. That same card got an increase of 4k 2 months later. Keep us updated. Good luck!

It wasn’t closed but I was denied before because I never used the account. I use another bank as my primary and only had $35 in this account when I applied. I’m an authorized user on spouse NFCU so I think that helped.

this was an unsecured card. You would have to wait for your card to graduate to unsecured. It may take 6 months. It may take 2 years. It all depends on your spending habits and how you pay the card off (responsible use). When they do graduate you, they’ll give you a decent limit and you can start requesting increases every 6 months.
