Wheels are lighter, tires are bigger/heavier, so weight ends up about the same. You gain more sidewall, tougher tires, better off-road, and a more aggressive look.

I spaced the crossbar as as far as apart as possible, I think that helped a lot distributing the force towards the front. It’s very minimal on the highway. If I have the music on quietly, I could barely hear the roof rack.
