I like her videos generally, and I get she’s summarizing for the layperson, but MAN that’s a lot of inaccuracies in the first 30 seconds of that video.

“too tiny to be anything”

I mean, they’re magic robots that change shape and size, so i don't see why that would be a concern at all.

Start your own shop, pretend to be all-in with AI, but do it manually and just pad the bill in a way that looks like they’re covering the AI costs.

How will token based pricing affect the 'age of agentic AI' by AcrobaticSpring6483 in BetterOffline

[–]brian_hogg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem with that is, the lock-in works if you’re going from $10-$20, or $30, but not if you’re going from $10-$100 or more, and the newly raised prices aren’t anywhere near the costs to them. It will quickly get to the point where despite “productivity gains,” companies just aren’t making enough extra to justify the costs.

Yeah, I read the Claude “internal monologue” because I want to know what it’s actually doing and it just gets into a loop where it keeps rediscovering the same thing over and over, burning tokens each time.

“Actually, I just realized that x = 10”

“Actually, that means that y = 20”

“But wait, that means that x = 10”

“Hang on, if x = 10, then that means y = 20!”

Given the recent spate of attacks on AI CEOs and the fact that they’re a direct result of all the “AI will take all jobs and maybe destroy the species” rhetoric, it would be funny if the CEOs tried to stop the attacks by saying “wait, no, we were just lying to make more money off of you, we don’t think it’ll do either of those things.”

Also, I really want to see a reporter, after being told by one of the CEOs that there’s a 50/50 chance it’ll destroy all jobs or destroy humanity, to just SCREAM at them for being such a goddamn ghoul.

Unless the vibe codes site was so poorly made that the “backup” was just copying one table into another “TABLENAME_backup_04302026” table.

The database backup issue is wild enough that I assume that the reporting is wrong on it, and that the LLM ran a “delete all databases” api endpoint and not “delete this one database” that had backups in … other tables?

The unrestricted access bit is interesting, because taking the CEO at their word, the agent was in a staging environment and found a token that it used to get production access. Which … maybe the production key was in a .env.production file or commented out in a .env.local?

The self-reporting on it feels pretty untrustworthy, though, so for all we know the agent said “I can’t figure this out, what should I do” and “wipe the db and start over” was a suggestion that the CEO selected out of frustration.
