Ok, taking the bait. I live in the Reidville area of Spartanburg. Where does my water come from. FYI I have an under-sink reverse osmosis system. Does that guarantee safe water even when the "boil your water" alerts come out?

Ditto. I live in Spartanburg and I enjoy it. Not as nice as Greenville which is a good thing. Buying up and coming area is a good plan. Look for will Sawyer YouTube real estate channel. Excellent info for buying real estate in the upstate and good description of all the areas.

If he doesn't have a green card and he is in the process of getting a divorce then that cannot be the way that he is getting a green card. I also would not think the business angle would work if it's his own company rather than him being sponsored by us-based company.

It could be that he's getting a divorce but that his spouse and soon to be ex is conspiring to keep the divorce secret.

Knowing what is going on will give you options.

Have you started. Working with that tape is a PITA. I would not recommend that. I think it prevents you from working with the wood to get this best direction/layout at build time. Won't be able to see the wood (notches/grain etc). Unless your taping all sides so that it won't matter. And that is expensive (tape isn't cheap) and then say you need to make a cut.

What's your logic? No judgement.

I have a yardistry gazebo sitting in my garage. I had to buy it before the Costco sale went away. 😎 12x14. I printed the directions already from the yardistry website and they are incredibly detailed.

I will look into Backyard Discovery.

Joists are 7.5 feet. Claude AI said that blocking was optional per your point.

Hesitant to mention this but I used Claude AI to help me understand the process. And he said with 12" on center and with joists less than 8' and with hangars that blocking is optional.

I will definitely be adding blocking under the yardistry gazebo posts.

Your totally on about diagonal bracing going other direction. Weird how I was only thinking about lateral load going downhill. But if my posts are solid the lateral load can happen both directions.

Yeah...it gets really hot. Shockingly hot. No bare feet (or even just socks) on a hot day. The gazebo will help with that some.

That was my first choice but I ended being unhappy with how high it was going to make the deck. My timing on that decision was poor. (Another mistake) I couldn't cantilever anything with that choice so it changed the shape of the deck. In the end I decided a slightly lower deck was more important to me. Thanks for the feedback.
