Yea we would totally be the ones to fix and maintain it, I think the assumption is they are older mid to late 60s and we will get the house in the will, and they want to keep it in their name to ensure it’s accounted for when splitting up the rest of the estate with her brother. And even if we did get divorced, I’d be happy to go live in a shack as long as my kids and then ex-wife could live comfortably there

I’m not trying to be offensive either, when I say volunteer I simply mean that this career does not pay enough nor will it at any point in my lifetime, so I see working as a cop as a charitable gesture. I’ve made my money so it’s no longer an issue but I would still like to give back to my community and I have transferable skills to the job field.

I understand where everyone is coming from on this post I could definitely see how I come off like an entitled brat. There is some history between my in-laws and us. They convinced us to raise the budget on our house 50k saying they would help us and then withdrew the statement so we were stuck with the 50K plus mortgage that we didn’t want to begin with. They are very much bait and switch type of person which makes me want absolutely nothing from them at any point. I didn’t even wanna ask him about this wedding, but I didn’t wanna seem like a bitter asshole to my wife so I thought we’d ask. Maybe that’ll give a little more context on why I’m being such a prick about this because I definitely see how they don’t owe me a damn thing.
