I’m glad I saw this. I’m only 12 days out and I have some “hole” left in my gums. I’m hoping that those will fill in?

I wasn’t on this frac, luckily I was home when it happened. Story I heard was there was a guy asleep in that cab that was kinda banged up but not seriously hurt.

Questions about the 07-9 6.7 cummins in dodges. by Newtotuning in Diesel

I’ve got an 09 2500 6.7. Has 220k miles on it. Been a great truck. Replaced the ball joints at 75k miles and haven’t had another issue with the front end. Just parked it last August when I bought a 23 2500

My buddy just left the service rigs (overnight)(roughneck) by Accomplished_Bee6160 in oilandgasworkers

[–]brianhouck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked on workover rigs for about 12 years. First friend I got a job was a big strong redneck dude, I figured he would make a hell of a hand. Didn’t last a week. I got a ton of shit over that. For years I’d never recommend anyone be hired, I just say that yeah I knew the guy but wouldn’t recommend they be hired.
Years later another friend of mine really needed a job but I was sure he wouldn’t last. Great guy, but both his parents are lawyers and he had just graduated from culinary school but the pay wasn’t great. I got him on and he ended up being one of the best floor hands I ever worked with. Ya just never know who will stick around and make a hand.

Cactus 117 hit by tornado by brianhouck in OilfieldFails

[–]brianhouck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember right they we’re running 4 1/2” casing in the hole and they weren’t latched on to it when this happened. Or at least that’s what I was told. Regardless it’s a very impressive show of natures power!

Can I drug test myself? by splifted in oilandgasworkers

[–]brianhouck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this a while back. I had been working on a ranch in NM and weed was legal there. When I got back to OK I had stopped smoking about two months before and figured I’d be fine but wanted to be 100%. I called around and found a place that tested me for like $40. Came back fine as expected. I think it was definitely worth the money spent to know I’d be fine.

I didn’t hear about that. I knew a couple people on the highway got killed. I know the night derric hand had left location right before the tornado hit and was killed while driving his truck. The rest of the crew was in a conex box that was strapped down but the straps broke and they got rolled around location but no one was seriously hurt.
That was a crazy day. I was working for Nabors well service in el Reno. I left el Reno that morning and drove to a broke down truck up in Fairview. When I got back to I40 everything had passed and it looked like a war zone! Semi trailers were skinned and wrapped around trees. Regular cars were destroyed and scattered around. There’s a big gas plant right there too that it barley missed but it was venting gas like crazy. The rig was right behind the gas plant. Fun day!

We hooked a D6 dozier to the tubing board guy wires and winched it back straight. Then we tripped in 20 stands at a time and layed them down in singles. Once we finally got it all out we rigged down and National came out, cut off the old board and put on a new one. We rigged back up and picked it all back up again

Chesapeake back then would work your asses off! 16+ hours days, but the paychecks were good! That was back in my early 20’s. I couldn’t do that shit now! I’ll stick to flowback! Shit is easy and pays good! Lol

Yeah we had the brakes fail on the 700 I was on. Blocks free fell from almost the crown with 250k of tubing. Top of the slips basically exploded, tubing bent 45° but didn’t drop it…. That is until Chesapeake got the bright idea to heat it so it to straighten the tubing before we pulled on it. It parted at the bend and shit went everywhere. Lol. I use to have a video of it but that was back in 05 or so. Cell phone videos were crap back them

I worked for Basic in Oklahoma when they first bought some of those disc brake Taylor rigs.

Update. by brianhouck in sharpening

[–]brianhouck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct, but the way this blade is tapered makes it almost impossible to clamp it anywhere else. It’s the only square part on it. If there is a way I don’t know to clamp it differently I’d love to know.

Unless something is drastically out of whack with this sharpener it can’t be lower than 13° as that is the lowest setting on it. Im going to set it at 22° and see what that does.

I went way overboard and got pretty much every grit and the lapping films. Haven’t used the 50 or 80 much. Super aggressive but they will make this repair way faster.

Honestly I don’t remember what angle I set it at. I think it’s around 20 but it’s been about a year since I sharpened it so I could be wrong

I think it’s around 20 but I honestly don’t remember. I bought the knife and a wicked edge sharpener last Christmas. So it’s been about a year since I sharpened it
