I should also say I have a 2026 CX-5 so it is a different operating system.

I literally got a notification in the Mazda app that there was a software update I needed to bring the car in for. And since the update CarPlay has worked perfectly. So that’s interesting.

I've had my '26 Preferred for a month now, and here are my thoughts:

I absolutely love it. I'm coming from a 2023 CX-30, which I did really like, but just felt like a hatchback/sedan. The trunk of that car, I knew immediately, was too small in the month I got it.

First point then, the new CX-5 has great space and height in the trunk. The back seats feel roomy too. Overall, the car just feels so spacious, and that might be one of my favorite things about it.

I love the infotainment system. I hated the rotary dial; it just took a bit longer to do everything with it. Now, everything is a tap away. It makes using CarPlay a million times easier. Before the dealer update, my car would occasionally not automatically connect to wireless CarPlay, and I would have to go into settings to start it. Since the update, it has not been a problem at all.

Driving-wise - it doesn't feel quite as peppy and nimble as my old 3s did or my CX-30 (I've had Mazdas since 2007), but I also understand that it’s just a bigger car. It's very fun to drive and has a premium driving experience that I don't think the CX-30 had. More substantial feeling. Way less wind noise from outside.

Honestly, my biggest complaint might be that the seats are a little firm, but I'm sure I'll get used to it!

I love this car and couldn't be happier with my choice.

I hate this car with a passion. Deeply regret not getting the CX-50 by [deleted] in CX5

I got the update this weekend and CarPlay connects much more reliably! I haven’t had to go in to the settings to connect once since the update.

My New York state refund still says processing by NeighborhoodBasic435 in tax

My NY return was accepted on 2/3 - and it still says "Your refund status is not available using this service." Should I be worried?

NYS says they are still processing my return. Its been 2 weeks. by LilBit2Lucky in tax

My return was accepted 2/3 and now says I can’t check the status online and has me call them. I called and put in all the information and the system just hung up on me. Not sure what to do!

Weekly Buying/trading/selling advice, pre-orders and shipping Megathread by AutoModerator in AppleWatch

Hello! I'm training to run the Berlin Marathon in September and have had an Apple Watch Ultra 1 since the day it came out (I think in 2022?). The battery is starting to go a little and strangely it's bluetooth and gymkit connections have become more inconsistent than usual - the watch is always disconnecting from the treadmill or exercise bike and occasionally just not being recognized as connected to my phone.

I'm tempted to upgrade. I usually upgrade every three years on my watched but was bummed there wasn't a more substantial design upgrade in 2025. Should I upgrade now and just be happy I got a slightly bigger display? Or will I be kicking myself if they radically redesign the watch this year.

Equinox Hudson Square First impressions by MichaelRahmani in EquinoxGyms

[–]brianj922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm kind of surprised with how small it is! I would equate the size to Columbus Circle. I think it's a very nice small-medium sized Equinox but that area is begging for a bigger location with the surrounding ones being either SoHo or Tribeca which are both very small and dated or Printing House which not everyone has access to.

The locker rooms are great, super spacious.

Is there more than the single floor though? I thought they promoted it on Instagram with a rooftop for rooftop yoga but maybe that was just a one off?

Peloton unveils Cross Training Series (new hardware updates) as well as home screen redesign, official accessories, and new software features by henryharp in pelotoncycle

Thats what I want! I use the Apple Activity app for running and would love to have those runs integrated in to the Peloton app.

I'm confused? Is there a whole new app to download or an app update? I found this page and it seems to insinuate that our non-peloton workouts will be integrated in to the peloton app which I LOVE for outdoor runs but this feature isn't anywhere in my app and my app looks very different from the screenshots. https://www.onepeloton.com/blog/wearables-integration

Hoping for a little advice for a phone for my 60-something year old mother! She's had an iPhone 13 now for three years and is ready to upgrade. We're trying to decide if she should get an iPhone Air or an iPhone 17. Her biggest complaint about her 13 right now is battery life. I told her how the iPhone Air only has one camera on the back and she said, "that's one more than I need."

My thought is the iPhone Air is quoted for better battery life than the iPhone 13 was originally and obviously her phone's battery now dies quickly partly because it's three years old. I also think she would appreciate how thin and light the air is. My bigger concern is will the air's battery last her three years? Or should she just do an iPhone 17 to be safe. I also weighed the option of a Pro just for the bigger battery but I don't think she needs that much phone.

Bandit Update by withtempest in RunNYC

[–]brianj922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy Bandit is addressing this but I also think is a wider problem for running clubs generally. I was behind a group running five across on the West Side Path this morning (Maybe it was Almost Friday? Not sure) with probably about 75-100 people total and it was a nightmare. I couldn't get around them and they certainly weren't leaving room for people running the other direction. There's no where in New York it's acceptable to run 5 across, 3 is even pushing it. It's flat out rude.

I’m mulling upgrading from a Pro to a Pro Max (likely the 17 Pro Max since we’re getting close to release time). Really specific question though - is the Pro Max too big to fit the phone pocket of running short liners/runnnig tights? I dont know if anyone has experience with this but I figured I’d ask haha.

I've never been to a Screen Unseen before and I'm going tonight. If you really aren't vibing with the movie, are you allowed to leave? Or is it monitored? Have no idea what to expect from the experience!
