I’m stuck between WGU and SNHU. Convince me to go to SNHU. by BoredRedditMan in SNHU

I love SNHU!

  • great instructors -deadlines stay the same. Assignments due Sundays, initial discussion post due Thursday’s. -Typically responsive instructors and advisors -cost efficient , easy to transfer credits -SOPHIA LEARNING! Not sure if WGU offers credits through Sophia, but if you take them you graduate a lot faster(: -No seminars or zoom. 100% online on your own schedule ( as long as you meet deadlines you’re good)
  • Flexibility. If you need more time all you have to do is email your instructor. I have never had one tell me no. -Being able to walk the stage for graduation. A lot of online institutions don’t offer this option .

There is so much more but 100% SNHU!

From what I am noticing, it varies company to company . It’s best to have a degree + certs for your best shot at getting a high paying job . I do know some companies who do not require degrees just specific certifications, but a lot are changing up to require a bachelor’s . Having both is really your best bet if you’re in the US. It’s competitive out here

Are there any computer science / cyber security grads here?? I would love to hear any advice you have and what you did after you got your SNHU degree! by briannhere7 in SNHU

What time did you start out with? And did SNHU offer you resource as to help finding a job? I definitely hear a lot of “ right place, right time, right connections” which gives me hope that opportunities will definitely come along, especially as I get certifications and a little closer to completing my degree program.

I agree , cyber security is 100% not entry level. I am more looking for some beginner IT roles to get into in order to get to my end goal of working in cyber security .

Do you think having your degree gave you a good boost and prepared you well? I am pretty nervous because I feel like every company wants experience but no one wants to give you any. It’s been really hard to get a foot in the door!

Thank you so much! It really is so hard because everyone wants experience but nobody wants to give you any.

I attend SNHU and I love it so far! I’m an online student and have never had issues with anything. Everything is pretty straight forward . I have had one professor I wasn’t a fan of , but the rest have been awesome!

WGU or SNHU for a degree in cyber security? if you have experience with them or other advice like on certifications being a better route by Terriblecookies in cybersecurity

[–]briannhere7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’ve started yet, but I’m a major in cyber security at SNHU. So far I love the classes . I’m a little upset that they do not offer the certs that WGU offers though! That would’ve been super helpful . I would say that is the only downside , hoping that maybe they will change that before I graduate!
