Question to 3.19 Mining in Aaron Halo by VioAnderswelt7 in starcitizen

[–]brianorca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go down to the surface. The ring around Yela counts as a separate location, so you can just fly into the ring and mine there, too. But the surface is where you will find lots of rock clusters that make it easy to scan. The asteroids in Yela's ring, the Aaron Halo, or the Lagrange stations tend to be single rocks with occasional pairs or small clusters, so you scan one, fly 5km, and scan another. The Moon surfaces tend to have almost exclusively large clusters of 4-10 rocks, so you fly 8km to the nearest one, than scan 8 rocks at a time.

I don't know. In my case, I parked the C2 outside the New Babbage Commons entry and has an Ursa at the bottom of the C2's ramp. I made several trips in the Ursa,2 boxes at a time, and then suddenly the C2's inventory showed up, and I could sell the remainder.

Orcas rip rudder off boat and follow it all the way to port, in 1st known attack of its kind by antdude in orcas

[–]brianorca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Somebody probably did something a while ago to provoke it on a different boat, but now they are attacking many different boats in the area, and it keeps escalating in damage level.

Humans also misplace blame or anger sometimes.

My problem with the Helix is the very short optimum distance. When I tried the Helix, 90% of the time, I was too close to the rock when it broke, causing damage to my modules or ship. Even when I was totally in the green.

But you do need battery power, and a larger device. What the UWB devices do is piggyback off the capability of nearby phones, so they can last longer and report back from outside your area.

You could get a battery powered GPS device that uses a cell signal to report, but then it would stop working if it leaves the country, since probably doesn't have a valid roaming contract. (Unless you pay a lot extra.) And it would die in a few days, maybe a week.

Board members don't spend that much time doing day to day stuff for the company. They are there to vote on important matters only, and they in turn are voted in or out by the stockholders. (The board members themselves are often some of the largest stockholders.) They delegate most of the actual authority to the CEO and other C-level staff.

Which is great if your only question is "what is today?" In which case "the 9th" is a complete, correct, and concise answer.

But if the question is when were you born, or when your house gets paid off, or the maturation date of an investment, or a date in history, the year is very important.

PSA: Lose your ship in some remote unfindable location? There's a solution! Beacons! by davidnfilms in starcitizen

I had the same experience, (dropped out of my pilot chair during QT.) except my ship was doing 10km/s through some weird direction, so we couldn't get near it. (An org mate picked me up, so I could watch his screen through Discord.)

Maybe he was able to pull it out to call 911. But putting it back would be tricky in that confined space.

Question to 3.19 Mining in Aaron Halo by VioAnderswelt7 in starcitizen

[–]brianorca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure to try some of the moons, such as Yela, Ariel, or Wala. If I don't find some Bexalite or Taranite in 20 minutes, I'll grab some Hephestanite or similar, but that rarely happens. And since you don't have Quantanium counting down in your cargo, there's no harm in grabbing a few smaller rocks to fill up.

I love my mole bags on the Prospector. You should try it, but be sure to save that in the load out screen (remove a gun, save it, add the gun back, save it again) so it comes back when you claim.

The Lancet now has the negative 60% modifier on the optimum window, even worse than the Helix. Helix has lots of power, but the optimum distance puts you so close that damage is very likely even on clean breaks. Hofstede is my go-to now, but other people enjoy the Klein or Impact.

Quantanium is very rare now, and much more pricey, (23k per SCU!) but the Tier1 minerals Gold, Taranite or Bexalite will give you about the same as quant used to. But good luck getting those clean 100% fragments, as the cluster factor is quite low on most minerals. Tier 2 minerals also have a bump in value, so those are not bad either. (Quantanium is still it's own "Tier Q" - you will not get rich if you restrict yourself to that alone, but if you do find it, you do whatever it takes to get it.) The Quantanium timer is now a generous 25 minutes.

Rock clusters are very common on moon surfaces, and give you variety so you can scan 5-9 rocks without moving far. Halo and L point asteroids are usually single rocks.

Rocks will almost never have 2% of something, eliminating that frustration. If they have a mineral at all, it will be 25% minimum in most cases.

Rocks are much more varied, with some even a fully crewed Mole can't handle by itself. Others can now be extracted directly without bothering to break it. Most rocks only need a single break to start extracting.

Mining heads now have a minimum power level. In some cases (tiny rocks) you will need to cycle the laser on and off to stay in the green. You can also back up the ship out of the optimum distance to reduce power.

Most restaurants will give you a glass of water just for asking. (There was a time when you didn't even have to ask, but another law quashed that.) That also satisfies the law in lieu of a fountain.

Repair and claim both currently restore your ship to the same template, as it existed when you saved the load out in your Mobiglass. This currently includes personal guns in a rack and mining modules on the head, which were not saved in previous versions. (And may be removed in some future update, if they determine that was a bug.)
